CURRENTLY ON CHAPTER SIX, PAGE 55.
I've really slacked on reading for this book! It isn't that it's boring, because it's not. I actually agree with you Matthew that Chapter 4 was really good.
Maybe it's just the memories of riding the haunted rides at Camden Park as a kid (it's a West Virginia park), but I've always had a thing for creepy amusement parks.
The park in Chapter 4 really put me in the mind of HellFest, the new film from 2018. The whole book has that kind of vibe, actually.
I just really hope the rest of the book keeps up with the creepy elements!

I didn’t know about the creepy carnival setting for parts of the book, so that was a nice surprise. I’m so ready for summer to be over, so this is a great kick off fall/spooky book.
So far I’m liking Ellery’s chapters more. I think she’s the more interesting narrator and Malcom’s chapters are a bit slower. One thing I didn’t really like is that within the first few chapters the author throws a lot of characters and family names at you to remember. And since everyone is so interconnected within this small town, it was a little hard to remember who was who at first.
(SPOILERS) one thing I don’t understand is how Viv seems to be the first to know that Malcom’s brother was back in town.
Can’t wait to read some more and hear what you all think!
1. Always start your discussion comment with the page number and chapter number/title that you are on. (For example... I am on Chapter Two, page 46.)
2. If your comment contains spoilers, please be sure to announce it at the top of your comment. This just ensures that anyone who hasn't made it to that point in the book won't be spoiled of the plot.
3. Be kind! You are free to discuss anything you want about the book. After all, this is a book club to discuss books. The only exception is any rudeness or harassment towards someone else's comment. Being kind is the number one rule of the club.
