The audio for Cameron Post actually helped a little.

I listened to it last night while taking care of a few things at home and the snarky tone the narrator sometimes used was quite cool.

I'm finally more invested in the story now that I'm further in and didn't fall asleep over the book on the bus this morning ;-)

I reserve the right to regret that statement later, lol!

Camilla | 1885 comments I've been baking this morning: a rhubarb - mascarpone - white chocolate pie is almost ready, and I have pan-banging cookie dough chilling in the fridge. Plus baking is a good time to listen to audiobooks.

Pan-banging?! What kind of dough is that?

Your pie sounds really intriguing though! I've never considered combining rhubarb with white chocolate. I really am intrigued as to what that combination tastes like.

The dough is nothing special, it's the baking technique. Here's a link to a similar recipe to the one I used:
http://www.theboywhobakes.co.uk/recip...

The pie has a usual, quite thin pie crust. It's filled with caramelized rhubarb (rhubarbs, muscovado sugar, cinnamon cooked together) and covered with a whipped vanilla sauce + mascarpone cheese + melted white chocolate "mousse".

Haven't tried either of the recipes before, so don't know yet how they'll turn out. Will let you know.

Started a little cozy mystery to sneak read at work. The page count only juuuuuust makes it within the bottom limit haha.

But it's a quickie that I'll be able to easily finish at work this week, just to get another book in since I'm not sure I'm going to manage to finish the Cameron Post book before the deadline.

I'm hoping to finish Muse of Nightmares. All depends on how demanding my youngest is on Friday and takes away my reading time. lol

message 563: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12885 comments Not had much chance to read these past couple of days. Our house guest is leaving on Saturday, but I just found out our daughter is coming home for the weekend, so I guess I won't get any serious reading done until Monday, lol.

I should still be able to manage a big chunky one during that week though :)

message 564: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I'm pretty sure I can hunker down and finish Cameron Post before the deadline & I'm also reading Noteworthy which I'll definitely finish, it's so much fun!

So it is! :-)

Do we have some takers for HORROR top shelf books?

message 568: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13647 comments Mod
I've got 2 books that I could potentially read for horror. Will have to see how much reading I'll get done over the weekend before I decide if I can manage both or not.

I'll definitely start with the German translation of Stephen King's Pet Sematary.

I've had this book on my physical shelf for years and years but never actually read it. Now is finally the time. 20 or so years later o.O

message 569: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I've got Frankenstein and that's pretty much it from me...

message 571: by Sammy (last edited Jun 26, 2019 02:59AM) (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12885 comments Stephen King, Nightmares and Dreamscapes 864 pages.

So could be either S or N from me :)

Also it's a short story collection, and plenty of characters with A or D names too, so just pick whichever letter we need most, lol.

message 572: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12885 comments And if we don't have enough horror books, I can always squeeze in one of his less chunky ones before the end of the week too...

I can read the next two spooks books if we need it for horror. I’m not sure about N but they do work for S,A, D

Oh, I didn't think about that one! Good idea. I have the first book on my shelf and I've been meaning to read it, so I can consider that one as another option for this week if I don't want to read or won't be able to fit in The Great Zoo of China (which was my second option after the Stephen King).

Supposedly better than it's been these past few weeks, according to the BBC. But I'm not seeing much evidence of it when I look out the window! lol.

Unfortunately I was one of those on the opposite side of the fence... couldn't get past the second person present tense. Soooooo horrible to read, lol.
