Oh gosh, don't remind me. I'm so so glad to be able to cool off! Even if it's not as hot anymore and there's a nice wind going most of the time, you're sticky as soon as you move because it's still quite humid. Blergh!

I'm trying to finish up His Banana before bed. The King book will be done tomorrow before I leave. And the historical fiction... we'll see. Maybe I'll get it done before the deadline.

Oh I just noticed that for the mini challenge Cat has added:

"Only one word can be found per book read (though of course multiple people could read the book to find different words)"

For those "tricky ones" I can't imagine I will come across any in what I read, but I'll search my kindle.

Camilla | 1885 comments I'm currently reading Grief Cottage, it will work for Paranormal. Unfortunately, on Amazon the Look Inside feature is available only for the kindle edition, which doesn't allow searching for words in the book (which I've always found weird). Any ideas where to look?

Awww, Mercy is awesome!!
The series gets better with every book, so don't give up right after the first book in case you don't enjoy it all too much.

I think I will go with A Caribbean Mystery for Lucrezia Borgia as I'm guessing that's a somewhat difficult one to find in most books by accident. And it has characters that work for W, L, T and A

message 780: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12885 comments Hmmm, will need to come up with a new plan. Seems pointless re-reading a book just for one regular word, and the only tricky one I know I can find is Lucrezia Borgia (won't know if there are any others before reading them, as 99.99% of my collection is paperback, lol.)

Amazon Look Inside still sometimes works (but not for all books) but you need to choose the paperback edition in order to be able to search for a particular word.

Otherwise, books.google.com can help, though it doesn't give page numbers anymore, but those you'll get once you start reading anyway.

I'm finding google books quite unreliable (loads of false positives) and the Look Inside feature has also given me a migraine or two already. It has also taken me days typing in books one by one to find what I've needed, which we can't really afford to lose when the words run weekly, lol.

Once the house guest is awake I'll go check wheat I have upstairs that will fit Paranormal and could conceivably have a tricky word in them, then I'll see if amazon feels like playing nice.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Mmmm. Yes.

It's a bit like cultural differences between us and the US and another similar word starting with F***y. Always makes me snigger when I read it in an American novel.

We can still find the words in another genre book, not just paranormal?
