This is the list a friend and I have been trying to sort of work our way through for a while, though I've honestly not been paying a lot of attention to what is on this list for a while now hehe.

https://www.listchallenges.com/bbcs-t...

Ever so slightly less books than on your list, Sammy ;-))
And I've still only read 29 of these haha. Though I have quite a few on my TBR shelf, and then there are a few I've given up on. Time Traveller's Wife is a book I just couldn't get into, so I gifted my copy to someone else.

Judy | 4065 comments I did that one yesterday after the other one 😂 got 34 read & again so many still on my TBR. I also always have a few I've given up on, or just have zero interest in. (Still trying to convince myself that I want to read Time Traveller's Wife... 😂)

Also, stuff like the Bible and "The Complete Works of Shakespeare" is so weird... like, I count them cause I've definitely read several children's bibles and am quite familiar with it? And I've read at least 10 Shakespeare plays so that should count for something? But it's still strange that they're on the list like that...

I'm on 53 of those, over half, which makes me feel a little better about my progress, lol!

OMG! It took me about 2 months to get through The Time Traveller's wife! Absolutely couldn't stand either of the main characters. Love me some time travel books, but I can think of 100 that are better! lol.

I grew up in a small village, and the only school was a catholic school, and I sung in the choir at the local church, so trust me when I say I can tick off the bible! lol.
I think the complete works of Shakespeare entry is just laziness on the part of the person putting the list together, lol.
I have a complete works of Shakespeare in one volume myself, but certainly never sat and read it cover to cover!

Yeah... no... that's not how you read Shakespeare anyway. Besides, my complete edition has microscopically thin pages haha. It's tedious to read anything in there, so it's only ever just a play at a time.

This is really not motivating me to pick up TTTW...

Ouch, I believe you!

I think the complete works of Shakespeare entry is just laziness on the part of the person putting the list together, lol.

For sure! That's why I never feel bad about ticking it off, either ;-)

We probably have the same edition. Mine also has super thin pages. In fact, it looks almost identical to the bibles we used to have at school. But I certainly enjoy Shakespeare more! lol.

Judy wrote: "This is really not motivating me to pick up TTTW..."

The only reason I made myself finish it at all was because it was one of my best friends favourite books...

Oddly enough, we barely speak anymore now, bwaahaahhaa!

(as much as I'd love to blame it on the book, it's just one of those situations where people drift apart. living on opposite sides of the world doesn't help, lol)

Kristel is reading a retelling and that'll cover the last one we need, so I'd opt for the Z! :-)

*to explain differences in page numbers between editions - book is usually published in 2 parts for easier handling but it counts as one book. this edition has those two books page counts summed. My guess is that other editions have only first part counted. I also have at home one of those 'smaller' editions that actually has fewer pages but font is really tiny (I remember I've counted for extra perks in one of tower teams and there are over 400 words per page.)

Two were read for quidditch for sure. And in couple more challenges when team needs to pick book from team they are playing against :P

❀Tea❀ (ttea) | 9624 comments I just started making another note to my book post but here it is

If you have another option for Z, maybe go with that one as this one might be tricky. That is actually her pen-name she is known by over here, and sorting can go both ways by Z or by J. I've checked and GR has her under J, so Z might not be countable.
Sorry about that

message 1524: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 13647 comments Mod
Huh, ok. GR can be weird like that sometimes. Didn't even notice when I snagged the link off your shelf. I'll go have a look and maybe move it to a different spot then just to be sure.

I'm with you (in the minority). My sister was so disappointed as she gave it to me because she loved it and I couldn't stand it. lol

Tell you what though, challenges really help step up the reading... Last year I read 86 books. This year so far I'm already on 98. And there's been a LOT of chunky ones over 800 pages, lol.
