Annie (bionerdannie) | 17 comments I still wonder what is the best way to pick books to review. I'm interested in and read just about anything on occasion. Some of the best, most profoundly moving, well written books I've come across on NG are not the ones with eye-catching covers.

I do try to regularly check my auto-approved publishers but I have 30 auto approval publishers atm so I can't really keep up with all of them, practically speaking.

How do you guys decide?

30 auto approval publishers?! Wow that is some going.

Dee (austhokie) | 55 comments I tend to read the book description; i'll check out the authors website (if I have time); or goodreads to see if I can get a vibe of whatelse they've written - I def. try to not pick books by the cover (its bitten me in the butt more than once)

Dorie - Cats&Books :) (dorie--catsbooks) | 427 comments It's gotten even harder to choose ARCs since they are putting them out there earlier all the time. I have come across so many that are publishing in January and February. I am hesitant to commit to books that far in advance because I know there will be more and more to come in the months ahead.

I am counting less and less on the blurbs since they are all over the place! I do check Goodreads if there are already reviews up.

I count A LOT on my great Goodreads friends recommendations also.

When I see a book I'm interested in, I go straight to the reviews by my Goodreads friends and that's my biggest help in picking books to request or accept, too. 😁

Heidi (butbooksarebetter) I use GR a lot but I'm also very impulsive when I come across rave reviews on IG. I'm way too trigger happy with requests and end up with huge TBR lists, like now, when I still have 7 pending for this month alone.

Hayley (hayley157) | 6 comments i go with the description, if the title/cover grabbed me, if i like the author, if its a book ive heard of before that i wanted to read, or if its in a particular genre that i like

Annie (bionerdannie) | 17 comments Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. Sounds like a lot of you have to fight the urge to request everything that catches your eye like I do. :D

Edited to add: I think the reason I have over 30 auto-approved publishers is that a few of them have an approval button for every one of their imprints, and when they approved me it counted for 20 different auto-approvals.
