Horror Aficionados discussion

Hey everyone I am thinking about switching back and forth between some old horror novels and new material, both indie and traditionally published. I've read King, and Poe and HP Lovecraft. I'm interested to try new authors and books and to also make comparisons between the two and see how it has evolved over say the last 30 to 40 years.

Anyone have any new and/or old books or authors they would recommend?

If you are a fan of cosmic horror, and you want to compare old and new you might want to read some of the works that influenced Lovecraft.

The House on the Borderland, The King in Yellow, and the works of Algernon Blackwood would be a good start.

Caitlin R. Kiernan: The Drowning Girl, The Red Tree, Threshold (the covers on the latter two are especially misleading about what's inside)
