I remember reading a really good book as a child (around the turn of the 80s). All I can remember now is that the title of chapter one was something like "The Boy from Blantyre", or some strange place like that, and i'm sure the book had some reference to "Livingstone". Whether that was the author or a character I don't know. Please help!!!!!

I can't remember. I suspect just Livingstone.
There are many biographies of him for children on WorldCat in that approximate date range. You can see them here.
