Mark | 3 comments I'm from England UK, I'm 40 and a big sci fi book/film fan. I have read Brandon Sanderson book recently Firefight which i really liked. Other than that I am really really into futuristic, blade runner, dark, rainy neo-like backdrops to my stories. Does anyone have any suggestions new or old for such a basic theme/style? I spend alot of my time trying new books only to find them dissapointing after a chapter or so. Thanks in advance

I'm a big fan of that type of fiction. I dig Philip K Dick stories a lot. You could try reading Altered Carbon, which was turned into a series on Netflix, and try reading Neuromancer and Burning Chrome. I dearly love the writing and the storyline in those 3 books.

Brick beat me to Altered Carbon & Neuromancer. I'd also add Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash and Jeff Noon's early work, such as Vurt and Pollen.

Aw, man! I forgot about Snow Crash! That's a great read!

Anna Mocikat Yes, I also would recommend the Altered Carbon series. I think it's one of the best newer Cyberpunk books. The TV show is crap though ;)
Another good one is Amped by Daniel H. Wilson. It's set in a quite realistic, near future.

Micah Sisk (micahrsisk) | 1436 comments Maybe try The Petrovitch Trilogy by Simon Morden. It's set in a kind of Blade Runner world but is a fast paced over-the-top action kind of work. Nowhere near as deep, cerebral, or weird (weird is good!) as Philip K Dick but ... well, just look at the reviews. Most of them nail the book on the head as far as describing what to expect: addictive fast read and fun if you're into swearing in Russian in a post apocalyptic cyberpunk corporate yakuza kind of setting.
