What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

A science fiction adult romance I believe, with a female protagonist who is 'called' through a rip in space to help save another world. The world has a barrier but it is falling down, it's her job to fix it.
Hmm, I think it was about 300-400 words, a really antagonistic male pseudo enemy who is like a war general or some such. She meets (and sleeps with) her partner. I am pretty sure everyone was of a larger human species or something, so she is tiny.
I think the book cover....has two staff things.
Oh, she has to choose a staff thing to help her and I think she chose the 'Wisdom' one or the 'Justice' one...

Anyone know?
