message 7: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) I just killed a character on another of my rp's and I feel really horrible... *sob* he was one of my favorites...

Alright. So...

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

You have a specific idea you'd wanna do?

message 9: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Erm. Well. Historical fiction? I'm trying to get my characters together for NaNoWriMo and my novel's set in 1477-78...

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Um, could you repeat that? lol

message 11: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Lol....

I'm an author and November is National Novel Writing Month (nanowrimo) and you try to write 50,000 words from midnight on November 1 to midnight on November 31. And I have a plot, but I'm working on character studies to make my characters more believable. My novel is starts in 1477 Florence and ends on April 26 1478 (that's the day my main character gets murdered).

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

ok, thanks. Um, yeah I can do that lol.

message 13: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Yeah sorry I was writing without thinking...

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

That's interesting. I never done a historical one. Let's see how this goes!

message 15: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Alright. Erm... let's see. Want some historical context? I can give you some if you want... I did a ridiculous amount of research for my novel...

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Sure lol

message 17: by Emma (new)

Emma (rpblcofletters) Alright - wow trying to think it out and put it on paper is much harder than just knowing it all -- give me a moment...

Emma (rpblcofletters) So in the 1400s Italy wasn't one country, it was a bunch of city-state sort of things. And Florence was the capital of the Republic of Florence (basically Tuscany) which was ruled by the Medici - and technically they were tyrants but most people didn't care because they were pretty good people and they were patrons of the arts (like da Vinci and Michelangelo sat at their dinner table) and they were quite philosophical and such... they were originally bankers but in 1450-something they managed to take control of the city - the guy who did that died and his son took control, and when he did his sons took control -- he's the best known, Lorenzo de' Medici aka. Lorenzo the Magnificent and his brother Giuliano... anyway around 1478 a bunch of people [the pope and a rival family] decided they should overthrow the Medici and so they tried to but it didn't really work - they killed Giuliano and then Lorenzo freaked and hung them from a side of a building.
