JSou Thanks, Cait! I love your task! I've already been able to swap books around for it according to my reading mood!

kiki (keekers) | 815 comments gosh. count me in with the people who are now second guessing their choices! please let me know if my choices will work:

person: Alias Grace
place: High Tide in Tucson
thing: Birds in Fall

thanks! fun stuff, great discussion...very informative! :)

Literally Jen (vampsita) "Deliverance Dane" is a female character in the novel. I'm currently reading it for this task, but using the "book" part for my object.

For the Proper Place, I'd like to use the book called "The House at Riverton," Riverton being the place. Would this be ok, Cait?

message 104: by Cait (new)

Cait (caitertot) | 648 comments Kiki and Jennifer, those are all ok.

message 105: by Literally (new)

Literally Jen (vampsita) Thanks! I've been wanting to read "House at Riverton" for quite awhile, and I just kept picking up other books instead.

If you like her writing style, you should also try The Forgotten Garden. I read it this summer and it was wonderful! House at Riverton is on my list too, but I think it will be a while until I get to it.

kiki (keekers) | 815 comments yeay! thanks! :)

message 108: by Literally (new)

Literally Jen (vampsita) My friend bought me "The Forgotten Garden" for my birthday. She hasn't mailed it yet, but I'm almost 100% positive that's what she is sending me. I've been obsessed with that book since I found out about it. My other obsession was "The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane" which I just finished late last night/early this morning, and it was really great.

I'm on the list for Deliverance Dane, but it probably won't come in for me until the winter challenge--hope someone thinks of a good one it will fit.

message 110: by Literally (new)

Literally Jen (vampsita) Oh gosh! On PBS it is a 600+ person wait for it. I wasn't about to wait that long. My obsession kicked in and I bought it brand new.

I read Deliverance Dane right after and loved them both! Great b'day present...hope you love it as much as I did!

This is my situation exactly. I'd hoped to use it for the person part of the noun task, but I'm #6 on the waiting list for only one copy in our entire library system. At 3 weeks per check out per person, I'm not even holding my breath to have it for winter. It was due back 8/19 so I hope it's not completely lost.

message 115: by Literally (new)

Literally Jen (vampsita) I hope they return the book soon to the library. :-( I'm awful with remembering to turn things in on time.

message 116: by Rach (new)

Rach (rachlovestv) | 261 comments Hey Cait! Would either "actor" or "housewife" work for the "thing" noun part of your task? Thanks! :)

message 117: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sandra72) | 714 comments Hi Cait!
Would "Scarpetta" by Patricia Cornwell work for the person part of the noun task?
(Kay Scarpetta is the name of the main character)

message 118: by Sarita (new)

Sarita | 78 comments For information, Cait OK'd Saturday as a thing for her task.

Oh crap, did you ever get a response to this? I'm so sorry if you didn't. Scarpetta is fine.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments Things:
Airhead (errr... airhead)?
Don't Judge a Girl by Her Cover (girl, cover)?

message 121: by Cait (new)

Cait (caitertot) | 648 comments I'll take airhead. I was going to say no, since an airhead is a type of person, but I also found this definition http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictio... .

Cover is ok too.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments It's also a kind of candy! ;) Yummm... I'm not sure which book I'll use. The book I wanted to use (The Treasure Map of Boys)... I don't think the library is going to get it before the challenge is over, and I have ZERO money right now... Thanks for being so flexible!

Lesley | 44 comments Hey Cait,
I wanted to read the book The Reaper for the person part of the task.
Sometimes the Grim Reaper is considered a person and sometimes not. So before I start reading: is it ok for the person part in your challenge?
Thanks!

Unless there is a specific character in the book whose name is either Reaper or The Reaper, I'm afraid it won't work.

Kay (neenamara) | 71 comments Could The Boleyn Inheritance work for a thing? I'm pretty sure an inheritance is a thing, but I just want to be sure before I make any bold claims!

Absolutely! :o)

message 127: by Amy (new)

Amy (signgirlamy) Can I use the word "I" as a person? I'd really like to fit in The Hour I First Believed A Novel.

Cait (caitertot) | 648 comments Amy wrote: "Can I use the word "I" as a person? I'd really like to fit in The Hour I First Believed A Novel."

Actually, "I" is a pronoun, so it won't work. I'm sorry.

Have you picked a book yet for the addiction task? That's where I'm putting The Hour I First Believed A Novel.

Thanks for the recommendation! I didn't even think of that and I haven't read a book for the addiction task yet :)

Oh good, I'm glad I could help! I seriously hate saying no.

I'm really looking forward to reading it. I read She's Come Undone a few years ago and I Know This Much Is True last challenge and loved them both. Did you know he's coming out with a short Christmas book? Wishin' and Hopin' A Christmas Story. I already have hold request put in at the library. :o)

No worries, I completely understand your reasons for saying no. I was just trying to fit it into this task since I'm working on the other 2 books... but I have several other options in mind so no problems there :)

I read She's Come Undone and was kind of disappointed, so I hope this book meets my expectations a little more.

message 132: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments Cait, what do you think about Need for a thing? I still have no idea which book I'll end up reading for this part of the task... Just trying to keep my options open! ;)
