48. Do you annotate your books? (Write notes in the margins, highlight your favorite quotes/passages/parts)

For books that you are going to keep, I agree with writing in books. It is a good way to interact with a book. ....Also interesting to go back years later and see what you marked.

The goal is to keep the spine in pristine condition. Sometimes it just doesn't work.

If it's not a library book I will annotate. Sometimes I just put sticky notes and other times I will write/highlight in them.

The book needs to be interesting! It needs to have decent writing, and the ending has to satisfy me. I think it all differs depending on the genre.

- Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist, loved it
- The Stranger by Albert Camus hated it

I too have read Let the Right One In which I really enjoyed.
Night _ very emotional story
The Name of the Rose - yes i liked it
Veronika Decides To Die - yes
The Mysterious Librarian - cute kid book
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing - did not really like
The Hypnotist - it was so so
The Housekeeper and the Professor - yes
The Dinner - it was so so
The Code of Hammurabi - assigned reading
The Boy in the Suitcase - it was good
The Art of War - what you expect
All Quiet on the Western Front - yes

- Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
- Jaws by Peter Benchley
- The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty

It's still being hyped and I don't understand why. It was good fiction writing but nothing blew me away.

Another part of bad reviews is if the book has animal or child abuse or bad/gratuitous language, potential readers should know this.
I appreciate reviews that point out serious flaws in a book.
Note: Many people treat book reviews differently. Some do more of a book summary then a review. Some do not give their opinion. I do not know the correct way. I just do my way - opinion.

I have a few, but What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a favorite.

The Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish—as far as intimidating content.
