QOTD: Are there any fun projects or events your participating in this month?

message 4157: by Krystyna (new)

Krystyna (adoseofcozy) | 889 comments I started off this month with a bang! I got to see Blink-182 in concert. My anniversary is this month. Other than those events, the only thing that I know of for this month is a fun creative project with friends and some buddy reads.

I don't have a favorite. But some of my favorite movies star Harrison Ford or Sandra Bullock. Also enjoy movies with Tom Hanks.

QOTD: Describe your ideal bookstore.

message 4178: by Krystyna (new)

Krystyna (adoseofcozy) | 889 comments My ideal bookstore would be one that I would love to open someday. It would be enchanting, full of warmth, comfort, and charm. It would be something truly special. It would have a great selection but, more importantly, it would feel like a magical place. It would have a cozy essence that you couldn't get anywhere else, at least not in a bookstore franchise. It would be an indie bookshop that was warm and inviting. It wouldn't just be a place for someone to run in and grab a book. It would be a place where you would want to linger in in the stacks, explore different books, and maybe get cozy on a couch and read while you sip on a coffee you ordered at the cafe. I would want cozy lighting, no bright LEDs, big display windows, plush chairs, comfy couches, eclectic chairs and tables, soft rugs and cushy throw pillows, lots of plants, and maybe a bookstore dog or cat. I would also have soft background music that would enhance the reading ambience and the smell of fresh coffee brewing at the cafe. It would be a place for people to come browse, read, and connect.

message 4179: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (estewart399_lcpl) | 601 comments I’d love something like Kathleen Kelly’s bookstore in You’ve Got Mail, with weekly story time for the kids and lots of mismatched comfy seating, maybe host a book club every week after closing in the evenings.

the world in howl's moving castle is the only one i can think of. most of the stuff i read is either just set in reality or i'd never wanna live in whatever world it's set in lol

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2032 comments LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What bookish world do you wish actually existed?"

I don't think there is a bookish world I'd want to live in. It's either too real or too scary.

QOTD: What's Up Wednesday - What are you currently reading, watching, listening to, playing, loving, etc.?

message 4190: by Krystyna (last edited Aug 21, 2024 06:56AM) (new)

Krystyna (adoseofcozy) | 889 comments What's Up Wednesday - What I'm currently enjoying:
Reading - A Court of Mist and Fury, Until I Get You, The Book of Doors
Watching - I've started rewatching Pretty Little Liars and I'm loving it just as much the second time around. I also recently saw Coraline in 3-D, which was amazing, and the new Deadpool x Wolverine movie in theater.
Listening - I've been listening to ACOTAR playlists on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Music. I decided to make my own playlist for my love of this book series. I also have started listening to my fall playlist because there's been a chill in the air of the mornings and evenings, which I'm loving!
Playing - I haven't been playing anything super recently, but the last games I played lately I love! I've played Baldur's Gate 3 on PS5 and Stardew Valley on my Switch.
Loving - I've been loving making new coffee recipes at home. I have seriously reduced the amount of coffee I buy at coffee shops because of it. I also have been loving going to a local coffee shop with a book and sitting at a table in the window surrounded by plants while I read my book and sip on coffee. I also went to my first ever silent book club meeting and I'm trying to get one started up locally because the closest official chapter is a little over an hour away.

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2032 comments LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What's Up Wednesday - What are you currently reading, watching, listening to, playing, loving, etc.?"

Currently reading: Circe by Madeline Miller, Giant Days vol 7 by John Allison, and I Was a Teenage Slasher by SGJ.

Watching: I've been watching a lot of streamers play a game called Still Wakes the Deep. The voice acting in the game is so good.

Listening: I've been listening to a lot of Soundgarden / Audioslave and some Bill Withers.

Playing: I've been obsessed with Cluedo after learning it's on Steam.

Loving: I'm still loving crocheting. I've also been sitting outside in the evenings and reading. I know it's supposed to get hot again, but the 70 degree weather has been amazing.
I also have a tennis ball shooter that I use to play with my dog, and she loves it so much so I've been enjoying watching her have fun with that.

QOTD: What are some of your favorite ways to practice self-care?

message 4193: by Krystyna (new)

Krystyna (adoseofcozy) | 889 comments There are so many ways that I like to practice self-care. One of the best ways, is current me looking out for future me, like making sure I have all of the laundry done for the week, weekly meal prep, cleaning and tidying up, etc. I know my weeks are busy and the weekends go by too fast, so I like to do a little bit through the week so that I can enjoy my free time on the weekends as much as possible. I also like to make time to enjoy my hobbies, watching an episode of a tv show, a comfort film, making a warm cup of tea or a yummy cup of coffee, baking a treat, getting cozy, playing a game, reading a book, etc. I just try to give myself grace, be present in the moment, and figure out life one day at a time.

message 4194: by Vivian (new)

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2032 comments LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What are some of your favorite ways to practice self-care?"

Getting enough sleep.
Sitting outside when the weather is nice enough.
Creating things (crocheting, drawing, painting, etc)

lmk if you get a silent book club thing going. I'd be down.

message 4196: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Goins | 525 comments Getting enough sleep is a major one for me. I also try to schedule some time for myself each week outside of work, kids, and my husband. This gives me some time to unwind and do something for myself such as reading a book, shopping, or trying a new recipe.
