Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2032 comments I don't keep track. It really depends on the kind of year I'm having.

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 381 comments Yeah I don’t keep track either. It would be interesting to see how many I buy. I may start tracking.

120. What has been the most you’ve spent on books at one time?

message 404: by jb (new)

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 381 comments Well the $60 I spent on the two Julia Child cookbooks was probably the most. Now I have bought 35 used books in one day. LOL

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2032 comments I've spent about $200 on books (possibly more) in one day. I'd say $70-$80 is the most at one store.

Katelyn (kcmaxey) | 51 comments The most I've spent at one time was probably around $100-$150.

Come Closer by Sara Gran

I couldn't choose which one I hated more. I think Come Closer comes in 1st place, but Behind Her Eyes is a CLOSE second.

Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader - the author just has a way with words. The book makes you use your brain.

Dracula - all around good story

Night - such tragedy

It is an awful book. I cannot understand why anyone likes it, much less read the rest of them. And a movie was made! ....just keep saying No Way.

Debra Diggs | 2444 comments I rarely get in reading slumps. It might be once a year, at most.

Vivian Stevenson (passionatelyperusing) | 2032 comments Krystyna wrote: "129. Do you get in reading slumps often? How many times a year?"

I think I get into one large reading slump a year. It will take about a month to really get out of it.
I might have little ones here and there but nothing quite as bad after that.

Probably IT by Stephen King, but I’m currently reading Les Misérables so it’ll be the longest when I’m done.

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 381 comments Krystyna wrote: "129. Do you get in reading slumps often? How many times a year?"

Yes I do. It happens to me a few times a year. Not because of books, but because of interruptions and stress.

Book buzzwords are basically descriptors (words or phrases) that when you see it in a blurb or synopsis you immediately want to pick the book up and read it. So, for me, an example would be gothic. If I see that a book has gothic in the description or a blurb then it immediately has my attention.

I'm reading a funny book about a taxi driver going insane.
The Last Taxi Driver by Lee Durkee

Krystyna wrote: "133. What do you do to get through a reading slump?"

I will pick up books from different genres to see if that does anything for me. If that doesn't work, then I'll take a break and get back into it when I'm in the mood.
