But I just don't feel like I have "On to the TBR" here that I did there. That could be a good thing, but it's not. Anyway ...

I found this book googling around looking for potential Booker noms for 2019. Electric Lit had this as a pick for the Pulitzer longlist. I don't agree, and for a good portion of the book I was sort of indifferent to it, but it came together for me in the end.

It's an immigrant's story told in a post-apocalyptic story., with social commentary - some of which went over my head. So that was a little weird, and I didn't think it was working until it did.

Glad I stumbled across it and recommended to those who like the same kinds of books as me.

Figuring out the Booker is so hard! I’m always wrong about what might be on the longlist, shortlist and the winner...

I liked this one, too, but, like you, it took til the ending for it to come together. It came out in the US last year, but I’m not sure of its publication date in the UK.

Well, this has piqued my interest, so I have put it on hold at the library. Also, the author's name is very close to my accompanist where I am taking voice lessons (I am not very good yet, still rather raw beginner, but she is a gifted composition major and pianist, but her first name has a 2 letter second syllable attached :) )
