Karin | 9225 comments So, we are inspiring others (or has one of us posted this?) These are the two I found from outside places featuring this group. I actually did better with duckduckgo, because Google brought up so many other things even though I used quotes.

We are on List Challenges (for how I did on this, see below

I think I've seen the 100 Books Play Book Tag Wants... before. (And probably done it when I first saw it!)

I remember it as well, although I didn't participate (as I had other reading plans already), but it was sure fun to watch.

LibraryCin | 11692 comments I don't really remember the US states game, either. Maybe I was an admin by then, and not participating? Not sure.

I remember others, though! Bingo was a team game. I still have my notes/strategies from the games I played, so if I looked them up, I would remember more... LIO - can't remember what it stands for...

Let's see (I don't necessarily remember rules or how the games were played, though!):

Tome Taggers (2008) - team game, I think

Last Tagger Standing (2009) - I think we played this a couple of times, as well. Team game, I think. It was one based on speed, though I imagine there must have a been a few extra rules to help other readers who aren't as fast; I just don't recall details.

Capture the Tag (2009) - vaguely remember the title, but don't recall the rules.

The Amazing Read (2009) - looks like we had two countries per week. Again, not sure exactly what we had to do with them...

Twelve Days of Christmas (2010) - can't remember.

PBT Bingo (2010) - mentioned above

Tag It to the Max (2014) - individual game. I do remember this! We might have played this one twice. We went through the list of shelfari's top 200 tags. We were all given different places to start. There were likely more rules, but even after the game ended I finished up the entire list!)

Bunny Hop (2015) - we were probably each given a different tag to start again (again, using shelfari's top 200 tags). We had to read something that fit the tag, then "hop" three tags, then read that one. Can't recall other rules. I was an admin, so not competing, just did it for fun, and I kept going long after the game ended.

I dont see LIO in my documents, but I remembered it was Lay it On. We had points for different things - fitting the monthly tag, award winners, can't remember what else, but you would "lay on" on the different layers for the most points per book.

Thanks-good to know!

LibraryCin | 11692 comments Ok, so my documents stopped opening after a while. Restarted to try to open more...

Capture the Tag - we had a list of the top 200 shelfari tags and it looks like we had to pick books to fill each of the tags in. That is, whatever tags were assigned to each book on shelfari that we read, we had "captured" those tags. With our next book, we'd capture more (hopefully different) tags.

Twelve Days of Christmas - not sure it had anything to do with Christmas! For 12 days there was a different tag each day. Looks like we got points for different things on this one, as well.

PBT Bingo - I think each team had a different Bingo card with tags in each square. Because it was a team game, we much have divided up who was reading for which tag.

I've read far more of yours than I have of Sara's--for yours it was the same score as that first list.

DianeMP | 534 comments I recall playing a team baseball kind of game. Don't remember much.

We also played a book exchange where you could open a new book or "steal" one from another player. I think we just had a discussion about doing this game again.

I remember the Twelve Days of Christmas game. I don't remember much about this game except that it was fun.

I remember the baseball game and a number of others. The first one I was in was on Shelfari and was some kind of relay game--I remember that Tien was on the same team as I was. There was some kind of card game, rummy or something.

What was the one I won? Why can't I remember-the one where I got a zillion points and it ran all summer 2 or 3 years ago. Was that a game or a challenge?

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments Baseball was the first team game from the move from Shelfari to Goodreads, probably 2017 or 2016? Had lots of fun doing that, and definitely got me re-integrated into PBT.

I remember that one--it was 2016 so I was only a sub since I was away for 10 days visiting my family. I actually read for both teams as I recall, and in 3 innings.

message 16: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11692 comments I suppose most of the ones I remember and mentioned were from before I was an admin, so much longer ago.

message 17: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12924 comments Funny - i hovered around the list on Shelfari, but didn't really understand what the heck the group was about. Only that the people I was making friends with were PBT people, and they were reading really cool books. I was frightened of the idea of reading for challenges and had no clue. When we made the move to Goodreads, I joined so I could find my friends. That's how I figured it out. I was hooked as of February 2016. I started with the monthly tags and later, fall flurries. By 2017, I was doing the year long challenges too, and I became hooked! It started slower for me. But the move really got me into it.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8417 comments The two challenges that I saved Excel spreadsheets for were
Tag It To The Max (2011) - Individual challenge.
Relay Race (2013) - - This was a team challenge and my team included: Cora, Kolibri, Erin, Auntie Nanuuq and me

I joined Shelfari because Anita was promoting pbt on FB, so it was the other way around for me :)--okay, she made a post about it.

Rachel N. | 2242 comments Now that I read the article I remember the US states game. I can't remember if I finished but I remember being very happy when in one book the characters took a road trip up the east coast and I got 5 states from one book.
It was one of the early games where Cindy, Candace and I were in a team with a couple of other people and I made my first PBT online friends.
I think bunny hop was a team game. I remember one of my teammates being worried they would have to read vampires:-). Bingo was also a team game where you had to read books in one column of the bingo card if your tag was called.
I remember the relay race because my team won. For the last leg I was up at like four in the morning waiting for the previous reader, who lived in Israel, to finish her book.
There was also a challenge based on school subjects. I remember reading a lot of science and math themed books and then everyone had to read the same book that fit the monthly tag, my team picked Ready Player One.

Good memory! Occasionally I try to remember which team game Candice and I were on, since it's where we started chatting so much (in our private group) because we were always online at the same time. That led to our cruise together!

I think it was probably my first PBT game, and it did create my first PBT friends! Candice would have been the first person I didn't know "in real life" who I added as a f/b friend. I remember debating, but once we decided to travel together, without having met, decided it would be ok!!! LOL! Since then, of course, I've added many more friends from here over there, as well.

Ah, see, bunny hop I did myself because I was an admin by then, so I couldn't officially participate. It was an easy one to do solo, though.

I thought Bunnyhop was individual, or maybe we could choose. My bunny didn't hop very far, but I did copy all off my posts and comments from that game before shelfari folded. I like to look at it sometimes.

message 24: by Karin (new)

Karin | 9225 comments Bunny hop must have been before January 2013, which is when I joined. OR it was in a hiatus when my thumbs were sore or something, because I don't remember this at all.

message 25: by Booknblues (new)

Booknblues | 12072 comments I remember Bunnyhop. I'm pretty sure it is one I did. I know I did one with the tags and didn't land on every single tag. I don't remember if it was group or individual.

message 26: by Rachel N. (new)

Rachel N. | 2242 comments I forgot I exported my posts from shelfari. It doesn't show everything but it did help me figure out that the Lay it On Challenge was the one where I was on a team with Cindy and Candice. Bunny hop was an individual game. It was in 2009 right around the time my husband died which is why I don't remember much about it. It was reading relay where a teammate really didn't want vampires. We had to submit the reading order and then were given a starting tag and then counted three tags further for the next persons tag. The school game was called Back to School.

I don't know that I realized I could export my posts, because I didn't do that, I don't think. If I did, I don't know what they are called.

Ahhh, and I described a bit about how that one worked. Unfortunately, I can't find my notes on it, but I remember that one better than some others.

I think I exported my posts, as well, but haven't tried really hard to make sense of them. I did take some beautiful screenshots, though, as I loved the "look" of shelfari, and I have looked at those a few times since. Sigh...
