John Dwyer (johndwyer) | 82 comments I'm almost finished my new book about my travels in South Africa and I'd like your opinion on the proposed title. The book will be full of travel adventure of the backpacker variety, interesting anecdotes about the country and animals. An interesting read with humor. The title I'm thinking about is:

"Cape Town to Kruger: Travels in South Africa and Swaziland"

Do you like it?
Thanks for your feedback.
John

Clivemichael | 12 comments John, it seems a little boring. Some reference to a special event or place within your narrative might be more eyecatching or evocative. What is YOUR gut feeling about it?

John Dwyer (johndwyer) | 82 comments Yea, it is boring when I read it now. How about:

"Lions and Zulus: Travel adventures in South Africa and Swaziland"

James Nevius | 5 comments Two suggestions:

How about "Lions, Zulus, and ________ " filling in that blank with something else compelling.

Also, I think the subtitle is stronger as just "Adventures in South Africa and Swaziland."

Clivemichael | 12 comments Some of the best titles hook me with wanting to know what it's about; simple, a few words but provocative. What's the most obscure(or compelling) thing that happened ?
Lions and Zulus begins to have that cachet and I agree with James, a travel book doesn't need 'Travel' in the title.

John Dwyer (johndwyer) | 82 comments Thanks to you all for your suggestions. Can I possibly ask for your feedback on covers as well? I have 4 covers to choose from, which of these do you think is the most eye-catching?

Andrea The meerkat is the one that would make me pick it up off the shelf to read the back cover. Good luck with your decision-making, John.

Patti | 1 comments I like the two darker covers. They're a little more exotic and eye-catching. For me, the meerkat looked too photoshopped.

Good luck on your new book... Would love to read it... Patti

Diane I like the cover at each end of the four. I agree with Patti that the meerkat looks too photoshopped.

Clivemichael | 12 comments I like the one with face paint

John Dwyer (johndwyer) | 82 comments To be honest, I was hoping people might go for the last one with the face paint, it's my favourite :-)
Thanks for your kind feedback, it was really valuable.

John Dwyer (johndwyer) | 82 comments Well, the book you all helped me choose the title and cover for is now available on Amazon (http://bit.ly/CT2Kruger).
Sorry to say I kinda ignored your advice on the title but happily accepted it for the book cover! Does that mean we stay friends :-)
Hope you like the end result and thanks for your feedback, it really helped.
John
