Lau Maia | 0 comments Yay! We're here :)

Jen | 206 comments Woohoo!

message 6: by Jen (new)

Jen | 206 comments FYI, I have asked the mods why we don't have "Team" in our name like all of the other teams. I find it rather odd.

I think we all have access to the spreadsheet in this one so if you want to add your books for the first task in, feel free. You can't start reading until August 12 but you can write in what you are planning to read if you know.

Jenn G (jenng10) | 15 comments Yay we are a real team now :)

message 8: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments Do you ladies have access to the spreadsheet? I'm in reading mode only

View only for me too

message 10: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments Ok, maybe it's supposed to. Monday I'll be working at the start time but I'll start reading one hour and a half later.

Are you guys excited?

message 11: by Cinthia (new)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 271 comments I also can only view it. I'm wondering if Jen has full access since she's the one that signed us up? If not, them maybe the moderators have it that way until the start of the challenge.

message 12: by Jen (new)

Jen | 206 comments If you guys send me your email addresses I can give you editing privileges. I tried to figure out how to give you editing using just Goodreads names and it wasn't working. Oddly, it does say Lau Maia can edit, so you should try that again; otherwise, just message me your emails or put them here and I will get that taken care of ASAP.

message 14: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments I asked for permission and I think the mods gave it to me but I have to say that I can only edit it at night

message 15: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments I've finished the first book for the countdown task
10 first published on the 10th of a month

Will start working on

5 that was first published in the 1950s

I'm updating the spreadsheet

message 16: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments I might be a bit tired but I can't find how many points each task gives?

That is the weirdest thing I have ever heard! I don't even know how to make Google sheets give time-specific editing privileges. If you want to give me an email address, I will share it with you and hopefully that will fix it.

Jen | 206 comments Lau Maia wrote: "I might be a bit tired but I can't find how many points each task gives?"

I couldn't find that either; I'm glad it wasn't just me. Cinthia, do you have this one? You seemed to have the inner-workings of the challenge mastered before the rest of us.

sorry, English isn't my first language. what I meant was that I only have access to a computer a

Oh, that makes much more sense! And honestly, it makes sense when I read it that way too; I just wasn't thinking clearly.

message 21: by Jen (new)

Jen | 206 comments Cinthia, do you have spreadsheet access yet?

message 22: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments I'll be finishing my next book today if my kid allows and next I'll see if I have any books for the countdown tasks that are left. I'll post it here if I find something

message 23: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments Jen,

I saw you read Harry Potter for the "that has a carnivorous animal on the cover" task but I don't think it fits as humans are omnivorous, not carnivorous

It could be use for

(C) 9. with at least nine characters (need to have a speaking part, do not need to be main characters)
that Cinthia is/was doing

or
(JG) 7. written by an author who has published at least seven books (as listed on Goodreads)

Could Cinthia or Jennifer swap tasks?

message 24: by Jenn (new)

Jenn G (jenng10) | 15 comments Finished my book and updated the spreadsheet !

message 25: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments I'm waiting for confirmation if my next books fits for

4 where the audio version has at least four narrators

if so I'll take this one next

message 26: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments I couldn't find a book for number 4 so I'll be doing number 1 instead, debute book with Desonrada

message 27: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments I've finished the book for task of debut author but can't update sheet right now.

I'm going to try again later to find a book for the 4 narrators task but if someone wants to pick that up go ahead.

message 28: by Jen (new)

Jen | 206 comments Yeah Cinthia is right we should use secret area to discuss strategy. I have not been paying attention to where I type because I am just responding to texts rather than looking where I respond.

message 29: by Jen (last edited Aug 14, 2019 09:10AM) (new)

Jen | 206 comments Harry Potter does fit. There is a question on "Ask the Volcanologist" about this topic and a link is given about what constitutes a carnivore. Humans are on the list. In any case, the cover also has a basilisk on it, and they are definitely carnivorous.

SZ2: iv - claimed Mosquitoland by David Arnold bus as hot

The mods are open to interpretation, but don't see how this fits the task. To avoid burned feet, please take your case to the other players in THIS thread. If you find support, then you can PM us to reverse the damage

message 31: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments Jennifer what do you think? Bus are usually hot but I get what the mods are saying. Do you want to ask in the thread?

message 32: by Cinthia (new)

Cinthia (cinthiah) | 271 comments Lau Maia wrote: "Jennifer what do you think? Bus are usually hot but I get what the mods are saying. Do you want to ask in the thread?"

I would ask in the thread and make the argument that it is a moving bus, and therefore hot. If it was an empty and stationary bus it wouldn't work.

message 33: by Jen (new)

Jen | 206 comments What is the girl on the cover holding - a guitar or a laptop? If it is a laptop, you have a better case for "something hot" there, because my darn laptop is ALWAYS hot. I worry it's going to catch fire sometimes.

Re: the bus, if we have to use that, I would argue that the engine of a bus is definitely hot, especially if the bus is moving, which this one is.

message 34: by Lau (new)

Lau Maia | 0 comments If any of you can ask it would be nice. I'm on the phone right now and I have trouble with writing here or in 6 hours more or less I can do in the laptop
