trailer behind the family car, Timothy Jay Smith
developed a ceaseless wanderlust that has taken him
around the world many times. Polish cops and Greek
fishermen, mercenaries and arms dealers, child
prostitutes and wannabe terrorists, Indian Chiefs and
Indian tailors: he hung with them all in an unparalleled
international career that saw him smuggle banned
plays from behind the Iron Curtain, maneuver through
Occupied Territories, represent the U.S. at the highest levels of foreign governments, and stowaway aboard a “devil’s barge” for a three-days crossing from Cape Verde that landed him in
an African jail.
These experiences explain the unique breadth and sensibility of Tim’s work, for which he’s won top honors. Fire on the Island won the Gold Medal in the 2017 Faulkner-Wisdom Competition
for the Novel. He won the Paris Prize for Fiction (now the Paris Literary Prize) for his novel, A Vision of Angels. Kirkus Reviews called Cooper’s Promise “literary dynamite” and selected it as
one of the Best Books of 2012. Tim was nominated for the 2018 Pushcart Prize. His screenplays have won numerous competitions. His first stage play, How High the Moon , won the prestigious
Stanley Drama Award. He is the founder of the Smith Prize for Political Theater.

This is very hard to write, but when I was in the 3rd grade I was bullied so badly I wanted to kill myself. All because I was shy, quiet and awkward. I was thrown in the boy’s bathroom by these 3 particular kids who would punch and kick me as hard as they could. I could barely walk as everyday they would abuse me over, and over again. The other kids in school would just laugh at me and no one helped. In fact, those same kids who watched and knew about my abuse would just join in, tease me, and they even threw food at me during lunch. My mom came to school so much to fight for me, but it didn’t help. I had just about given up living in this world. Somehow God saved me and I found writing. It was an outlet to take me away from the pain I was going through in this world. I wanted to create different characters, and a different world just to escape. Writing really saved my life. Now at 42 I just released my first novel. My Dead Blue Caterpillar. I have to say I still am a bit shy so this is hard for me to ask but I am starting a program and foundation for kids who have and are being bullied any support for my book helps my cause for bullied kids. It’s very inexpensive less than 3 dollars for my book which just received book of the month on Goodreads..I want to thank you deeply from the bottom of my heart for you help to keep our kids safe. Just trying to do a good thing from out of the pain I went through.....
Thank you so much.

I'm primarily a novelist, though I've had some success as a screenwriter and playwright as well.
I write literary thrillers and mysteries set around the world: Africa, Greece, Palestine/Israel, Istanbul (a novel-in-progress), and soon to be released: The Fourth Courier set in Poland. I lived and/or worked in all these places, and I draw on those experiences for my settings and characters. Suffice it to say, I've had a rather intense and exciting life, which is briefly described on my Author page.
Probably the biggest influences on my writing were Graham Greene and John LeCarre, and more recently, Joseph Kanon, Moshe Hamin, Sebastian Faulks, and Robert Goolrick. That's an odd array, I know, but combined they give me strong plots with memorable characters. About one of my earlier books, a reviewer wrote that I did for the thriller what John LeCarre did for the spy novel: elevate the genre to a literary form. I'll take that compliment!
I have two published novels by Owl Canyon Press. For my third novel, I recently signed with Trident Media Group for literary representation, and that book - The Fourth Courier - will be published by Arcade Publishing (an imprint of Skyhorse Publishing, the fastest growing independent publisher in America).
I'm gay, and all my novels have gay protagonists or sidekicks, in such roles as journalists, soldiers, or FBI and CIA agents. My novels are not gay sex novels. Instead, because I have lived around the world, I try to portray what it's like for gay people in those cultures, and make it a feature of the plot. There's always a plot twist that wouldn't happen - or not in the same way - if the gay factor weren't there.
That's me in brief. I look forward to exploring better than I have before this incredible network called Goodreads.

As a lover of what most would find obscure, Grey prides herself on her unique and quirky personality. She credits her love for all things horror, thriller, and paranormal to all of the Stephen King, Wes Craven, and Edgar Allan Poe works she started experiencing at the tender age of eight. While most children her age were playing with friends, she was making up stories of shadow figures appearing at the foot of a child’s bed in the middle of the night. The rest, as the story goes, is history. Now, fifteen years later, Grey has devoted her life to scaring the next generation, as her idols had for her.

My name is Mark Romain and I'm a retired Metropolitan Police officer, having joined the Service in the mid-eighties. My 30-year career included two homicide postings, and during that time I was fortunate enough to work on a number of very challenging high-profile cases.
I live in the county of Essex with my wonderful wife, Clare. We have two grown up children and a grandchild named Archie. Our family includes two English Bull Terriers called Betty and Boo, and a very bossy Dachshund called Weenie. Despite being the smallest dog in the pack, she definitely rules the house!
I am a lifelong Arsenal fan and an avid skier, although I didn't actually start skiing until I reached my early 40s! I also enjoy going to the theatre, taking the dogs for long walks, reading voraciously and lifting weights.
I'm an Indie author, and my first book is called 'Jack's Back: murder returns to Whitechapel'. It was published on Amazon in December 2018, and I've just started work on the follow up, which is provisionally titled 'Turf War'.
I love reading mysteries and crime thrillers, which is why I chose to write about that genre, and also why I chose to join this particular group.

Ed Mitchell was a foster child who later graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He went on to be an Airborne Infantry Ranger, a RAND Corporation Fellow, an aerospace systems engineer, and a community activist fighting to protect water resources in California. Along the way, Ed became a national award-winning author by weaving his real-world experiences from foxhole to space into his contemporary adventure/thrillers.
From private to Lieutenant Colonel, Ed served in Airborne, Air Cavalry, Armor, and Mechanized Infantry units, including guarding the DMZ in Korea and protecting nuclear weapons. Prior to the 1st war in Iraq, as the Space-Ground Combat Analyst for U.S. Joint Space Command, Ed fought that war in a simulator and analyzed the results for the command. Additionally, he spent years working National Missile Defense and Homeland Security research and development. Ed helped develop the prototype command launch center for the Army’s Strategic Missile Defense units in Alaska and California. Later, as a civilian Payload Integration Manager, he helped develop and test NMD kill vehicles for Lockheed Martin and Boeing. As a writer, he is proud of being a charter-founding member of the International Thriller Writers Organization.

I enjoyed reading your profile because i too leverage my life experiences into my thrillers. Makes it easier and more realistic when describing a scene or technology or interaction.

After many years of being a "struggling" actor in LA, I turned to writing. I have had two novels published: "I'm No P. I." and "A Ghoulish Good Time." I have had MS for serval years now; I know physical and mental pain; so I need much laughter to endure it. Hopefully, my novels do just that--give much laughter.

Joseph Carter started following his passion for espionage thrillers in early 2018 when he started work on Another Man's Freedom Fighter.
His first book is deeply rooted in the conflicts in Central and Eastern Europe that erupted during the 2010's mostly between Russia on the one side and on the other the 'West' represented by the major supranational entities EU and NATO as well as their largest contributors, the U.S., Germany, and the U.K. but also the newer members, e.g. Poland.
He lives in Berlin with his family and enjoys travel, good food, and wine.

My name is John R. Stuart and writing is my passion. After working as a Telecom engineer for over thirty years I was finally able to achieve a lifelong dream as a writer once I retired. I’m currently a resident of the small but very beautiful city of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.
I’ve penned the Crime Noir series – The Buster & Cayne Stories which feature the adventures of a pair of Military policemen as they resolve thrilling crimes.
Book One – BLACK STOCKINGS RED BLOOD is set in Paris after WW2 and follows Buster & Cayne as they track a deranged serial killer.
BLACK STOCKINGS - RED BLOOD
Book Two – Where Scorpions Hunt continues their story as now private detectives in New York City as they seek to recover a collection of stolen priceless antiques.
WHERE SCORPIONS HUNT
I’ve also written a four-book Alternative History series entitled – REBEL EMPIRE. This series provides an alternative world history after the C.S.A wins the battle of Gettysburg and subsequently wins the American Civil War leading to a completely new world power.
My other works are – RAMBLE ON…, a Tale of Drugs, Sex, Rock N’ Roll and Murder.
And – THE DEBRIS OF A LIFETIME, an emotional story of family estrangement and recovery.

My name is Matt, and I recently just published my first novel, Cold Civil War, a modern-day coming-of-age story about a young adult that quits his job and travels America and learns harsh truths about himself and the country he loves along the way.
I was born and raised in New Jersey, and I recently moved to Pennsylvania where I live with my girlfriend and our cat, Felix. In my spare time I enjoy working out, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. I also love music and sports, and I am a rabid NY Rangers fan!
And, of course, writing is my favorite hobby. Right now, I am working on my next novel, His Magnificence, the first part of a trilogy about a post-war future in which America no longer exists and it's successor nation, the Divine Republic of Freedom, is poised to wage war on its biggest foe.
Feel free to give my facebook page a like! Thank you!

My name is Hilary Davidson and my fifth novel, One Small Sacrifice, will be published by Thomas & Mercer in June. It's about an NYPD detective searching for a missing doctor whose fiancé was suspected of killing another woman a year earlier. I'm excited to say that it just got a starred review from Library Journal. My earlier work has won two Anthony Awards, a Derringer Award, and a Crimespree Award.
I'm originally from Toronto but have lived in New York since October 2001. Before I started writing novels, I was a freelance travel journalist. I used to be the honeymoon columnist for Martha Stewart Weddings, a fact that seems hilarious in retrospect, especially since my first fiction credits were with Thuglit and Beat to a Pulp.

I have also completed the first novella in my Joelene Stonehouse series, called AVANTI, which was Joelene's callsign during her twenty-five years as an Army attack chopper pilot. Now she's 47 and a civilian and feeling like a fish out of water.

I live in a nice quiet little valley in Montana where the cute deer are (way too) plentiful and the occasional bear saunters by to raid the apple trees. And here I sit dreaming up no end of trouble and mayhem for my characters.
I have more books in the works under other pen names. Whaddya gonna do? Check 'em out here: http://blackdogebooks.com/
Cheers and Happy Reading!

Thanks so much, Ruth. We miss you over at that "other place." We were worried. Thought you'd been kidnapped. Avanti was an experiment for me to see if I could write a believable female lead character. If you say she's good, that's good enough for me. Right now I am working on another female M/C who upon her high school graduation day discovers that her mother has been murdered by a Chicago gangster. Now she's taking her revenge out on the "entire family" from Chicago all the way to L.A. Anyone who reads AVANTI will know who this is, per the referenced shootout in the Montana mountains.

My name is Phil Kurthausen.
I've had work broadcast on BBC radio 4, published award winning short stories and my novel ‘The Killing Pool’ won the Thriller Round in the Harper Collins People’s Novelist Competition broadcast on ITV in November 2011 and appeared in the final. It was later shortlisted for the Dundee International Literary Prize in 2012.
I've published with Harper Collins and Bloodhound Books. My latest book 'Don't Let Me In' is a tense psychological thriler and my next novel, 'How to Kill your friends' is published in October.

I'm Jeffrey D. Briggs, and my debut novel "Out of the Cold Dark Sea," book one in the Seattle Waterfront Mystery series, was published this summer. I've been writing about the Seattle waterfront since I moved onto my sailboat over 30 years ago. I took a brief hiatus from writing about boats to preview all my future diseases as a biomedical science writer for Mayo Clinic. "Out of the Cold Dark Sea" is a dark, contemporary mystery featuring Martha Whitaker. Because fear can be controlled doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Martha must again control her fear to clear her name and find what happed to her missing friend—before anyone else is killed.
I look forward to becoming active in the group. Thanks for having me.

Shoot me a note. Thanks

Forty years ago, standing on a street in Tel Aviv, explosively dysenteric after a half year in Africa, I committed myself to never having a career or a permanent address. Thirty minutes ago, I signed up for Medicare. God, what an arc. Somewhere in those decades, I also committed to poverty. No surer way to do it than become a writer. I've written two Alaska based books--both absolutely rip. The first, Broken Angels, is more mystery than thriller, but you will not be able to put it down. The other, Rinn's Crossing, is out in March 2020. I'm looking for folks willing to review it pre-release. I can be found at russellheathauthor.com. Best!

I'm a retired journalist and freelance writer who's written four books - the latest, Undetected, is a thriller that has been rated 4.4 stars on Goodreads and Amazon.... its an unconventional story about a black widow who marries into a new family. Will she strike again?
The ending bucks the usual convention where the killer gets his/her comeuppance; it's far more ambiguous. Spoiler alert: that's all I want to say about it.
Looking forward to reading/commenting on other books coming out of this group!

Just joined this vibrant group. I'm Irish, live in Brittany and spend the majority of my time writing action thrillers ( Ryan Kaine's 83 series ) and police procedurals ( The DCI Jones Casebooks ).
Since 2013, I have published eighteen novels, with at least three new publications scheduled for 2020.
So far this year, I've written over 100k words (just totted them up). Not bad given it's only mid-February. :)
Some might say I'm overly prolific. Others might say I have nothing better to do with my life. I say I love to entertain. You choose.
Cheers,
Kerry.

I've worked a wide variety of blue-collar trades and have stayed mostly broke at all of them; I turned to writing after a lifetime of improv theater and role-playing games left me wanting to put my stories in print.
When not writing, my hobbies include reading, carpentry, knife and sword collecting, cooking and cat rescue. I live with my lovely and talented wife-to-be in a small house full of cats, computers, books, and fabric.
I'm looking forward to discussing thrillers with everyone here, and of course you're free to take a look at mine if you feel the urge to. :)

“Seated on a panel with her fellow writers, Maltese-Serbian novelist Nataša Pantović has been known to use slam poetry to perform her poetic body of work.
"Like her prose, the improvised words, tribal music, percussionist sounds, lengthy ‘aum’ chanting, are neither too preposterous nor too earnest but endlessly curious. A bridge builder between East and West, following ancient archaeological findings, she often dives into historic settings more than 2,000 years back in time.
In her novel, Ama: Playing the Glass Bead Game with Pythagoras, the 52-year-old author makes a bold swerve into less-traveled territory. She chooses for her protagonists Ama, an African priestess, living in China’s Macao in the 17th century; Ruben, a Portuguese Jesuit priest; and Fr Benedict, an Orthodox Christian.”

About A-Ma Alchemy of Love and Tree of Life with Spiritual Poetry by Nataša Pantović a review at Sunday Times!

A lifelong love of books led him into writing, but it was being named one of the winners in the Writers’ & Artists’ Yearbook centenary novel writing competition that spurred him on to complete his spy thriller, Eavesdrop.
The novel was written largely on planes and in airport lounges as well as in snatched moments before starting work each morning. Eavesdrop was initially released by Bad Day Books, the suspense and thriller imprint of Assent Publishing, and is now also available as an audio-book from Audible Studios.
