Andrew Hanson | 5 comments Is anyone here thinking of going on the climate march this weekend?

My novel, "Greenies", is a work of speculative fiction set in London in the year 2030. At this time, London is recovering from a disastrous flood, which some say was caused by climate change. Given a spring tide combining with a north-east storm surge, London could actually flood today; the Thames Barrier needs replacing. Throw in sea-level rise due to climate change, and this scenario becomes more likely, or more catastrophic. Fiction can be a great way of exploring issues, while at the same time providing an entertaining read, and I hope that's what I've done.

So, to continue: when a controversial talk-show host is murdered, suspicion falls on radical activist Ben Martins. Ben may be innocent, but he has no sympathy for the victim, and risks becoming embroiled in ever more dangerous schemes. If protecting the planet can justify anything, is Ben a pragmatist or a terrorist? And why does CCTV footage of the murderer show someone dressed distinctively like Ben?

If you would like to find out more, the first two chapters are now available on my blog, at http://andrewhansonblog.wordpress.com

Greenies is available in full on Amazon and Kindle.

I would love to hear any questions or comments that you have! If you'd like to read a thriller with some serious themes and difficult questions, this book is for you.

Patrick Murphy (patrickmm) | 44 comments Hi Andrew, I too write with nature/environment as a theme. It just happens for me as the wild world is such a part of my life.

I am not going to the climate change march, but should be. Is there anything we can do locally or on here?

I'll read your book... it sounds interesting.

Best wishes.
Patrick

Andrew Hanson | 5 comments Hi Patrick,

I feel quite envious, of living somewhere where wilderness can be a part of your life. The climate marches are in major cities, of course. There is the following Greenpeace petition to make the Artic an international preserve:

Thanks for your interest in the book, I hope you enjoy it. And do post any comments/review on this site!

Best Wishes,
Andrew.
