What under the radar writer(s) do you follow and why?

One writer I follow that I consider under the radar is Tom Leins. He is certainly not for everyone and writes in a very graphic, hardboiled (very hardboiled) noir style and has quite the unique way of describing things.

When reading his writing, the best mind's eye description I can offer of the environmental conditions in his books would be similar to that seen in the movies Blade Runner and Fight Club.

But like I mentioned earlier, his writing is not for everyone and may offend some.

T Jefferson Parker. He's one of those who is called a writer's writer. Or at least I've seen him referred as such. He has won three Edgars. He has written three or four different series, all of them fresh; street policing, cartel/gun running series, recently a private investigator, Roland Ford.

I've read a lot of his books. I can't recall which one it was, but one had a very powerful ending (had to do with the main character in the water near the end - don't want to list a spoiler) and then the Deputy Charlie Hood series was great. The one assassin villain in that series was nasty.

Sorry, don't know how I missed this. Several of his books have had powerful, surprising endings! I take nothing for granted,
Yeah I loved the Charlie Hood series. It constantly kept me on my toes. The information of the flow of weapons was fascinating in the extreme and I have made use of it. I just probably go back and re-familiarize myself with the series.
