Suggestions from a friend:
Okay, so I'd give them a unique story idea. Like, a story about slaves told from the slavemaster's POV; or a story about knights slaying a dragon told from the dragon's POV, or maybe even a young, cowardly Knight's POV. Something like that. Then, give them their restrictions/rules. Approximate word counts, content, deadlines, etc. I'd suggest giving them an eye-catching image for inspiration, too. Sometimes even the simplest of art works or photos can inspire us.

Great ideas, all of them!! I'll keep these all in mind; if they don't work out for this contest, possibly for future ones!

Thanks for all the suggestions so far! keep 'em coming! Now, I also need suggestions on how we can do the judging. Should one person judge (the contest organizer), or the mods, or should we have a poll that the non-participant members vote on? Let me know your thoughts!!

Alright, I need your input on how you thought our recent contest went. Should we do more? You can also vote on this poll
Alright guys. Anyone ready for a new writing contest? I had a few thoughts on it, and I want to run it by you.
First of all, I think I want to up the word count. Make it, say, 5,000. It's a little more difficult to read through, but I am terrible - and I mean terrible - at solving any problem in 300 pages or less, let alone 2,000 or so.
Second, Easter is coming up. (Food! And I get my braces off three days afterwards!) Anyways, I was thinking we could do something themed with that. Something to do with sacrifice and love.
Or, we could do a short story theme with Carrie Underwood's song, "See You Again". When I listened to it (and watched the music video - bring tissues!) I got all sorts of ideas.
Also, if anyone has any of suggestions for prompts/themes, let me know!
Let me know! I'll start a poll!

I think those are both great ideas, Brianna! Maybe you could run a contest where everyone submits a short story based off or inspired by a different song of their choosing? Just a thought.
Awww man! You get your braces off a few days after Easter? That's just mean!
