Slightly late posting this, as it ws theoretic ally the Mod read for a few weeks now.
Anyway I have been invited to an Orbit Publishing Blogger and Book people event on Friday with the opportunity to ask RJ some questions so would like to see if people here have any questions around this or his other books.
Also in exciting news, his next book, The Bone Ships is out in October and I get a credit in it after giving mapping and geographic advice.

I started this but couldn't really get into it, there was a lot of politics/intrigue that I didn't find all that interesting. I'll admit that I was in hurry to get to a different book I had wanted to read so I may not have given it a fair chance.

Milou | 102 comments I picked this one up in a sale a few months ago, just to have a third book to make the deal work. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it, but I was happily surprised. It really isn’t anything special, but it was a quick and fun read for me.

I won't tell RJ that anyway . Its the start of a trilogy I quite enjoyed, I tend to like the different concepts of Death as a character or God so the cult of Death, the Death Jesters etc really appealed to me.

ConciseAlan | 1 comments I'm 100+ pages in and so far it's fantastic. Thanks for recommending!

Amy | 410 comments I thought this was an alright read. Not what I expected from the blurb or the cover though; less cool assassin fights and more polictal intrigue, which isn't really my cup of tea. Really enjoyed Girton's wit throughout, and him as a character as a whole.

Lots of aspects reminded me of The Assassin's Apprentice, although I read that a long time ago.

I’m having a really hard time reading because of the editing errors. The plot feels like it has stalled. I really hope Aydon gets killed off anyway.
