Ashley Hi. I'm Ashley, late 20s, and I love YA books. I actually minored in Children's lit in college. I've been wanting to join a book club for a while and then I stumbled on this which is great because I can fit it to any schedule I need to! Hoping I can stay excited about this and keep up with the books.

Kassie (kassierosie) Hi! I'm Kassie. I'm 14 years old. Im a huge reader and I've been one since last year (2012 is when it really exploded). I've been in battle of the books for 3 years, 5&7th grade, winning at my school. Also did it this year but came VERY close in 2nd besides a 6th grade team.

message 2009: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (catface88) | 2 comments Hi I'm Sarah. I'm 25 and I'm from the UK. I used to big a big reader and then last year I attempted The Hobbit and got stuck. I didn't pick up a book for months until November when I bought The Hunger Games. I devoured that and the Divergent trilogy in less than a week. Since then I've been hooked on YA novels. I've since read the Matched trilogy, The Vampire Academy series, The Mortal Instruments series, The Lorien Legacy series, The Maze Runner trilogy, as well as other standalone YA novels. In all, I've read over 40 books since the start of November and I don't plan on stopping any time soon.
I'm a big fan of Supernatural and I have a Tumblr if anyone is interested in following me http://nyotauhuraspock.tumblr.com
I look forward to chatting to people on here :)

Michael Selden | 11 comments Hello from Michael Selden

I've been an avid reader, but the intense reading comes in waves. Part of my work in the past meant traveling for months at a time, usually to conduct testing (I was a physicist for almost 30 years), and books were a great way to escape the pressures. I use a Kindle now, because—when I read a lot, I read at least a book per day, and have read two in a day at times.

YA is one of my favorite genres because of the characters. The YA characters often have intense feelings and exhibit intense emotions, somewhat less complicated by the ambiguities in interactions that grow up around us as we age.

I published an older MG novel last November, called The Boy Who Ran, but had written another book (a YA / SciFi hybrid ) in parallel with that, which I'm prepping for publication late this year, called "The Balance". before tackling the YA book, I read 220 YA books with strong female protagonists and mostly written by women, to help me saturate my mind with the thinking of teenage girl main characters—in my story, the main character is a 17 year old girl. Anyway, enough about my books.

There are a lot of great stories out there, and some exceptional writers. I'm always on the lookout for a well told story, with an interesting plot and compelling, realistic characters, and I like reading even more than I do writing.

A.L. Burgos (alburgos) | 1 comments Hello there everyone. My name is Anthony Burgos and I go by A. L. Burgos in the author world. U have written a teenage YA book called Sec4rets. It's a series and the first book is out now. It revolves around 4 best friends trying to juggle high school and all the typical drama that comes with it. It gets harder for them because they keep secrets from each other and we all know secrets eventually come out. The secrets might tear them apart in the long run. My book tackles real teen issues like sexuality, drugs, alcohol, family issues, love, death, relationships, self harm, and more. Go get a copy now for Kindle it's on sale for 99¢ limited time. Please help support me as I'm trying to make a name for myself.

message 2030: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany W. (tiffanyw1218) Hi, my name isTiffany, and I'm a 15 year old girl. I started to read "novels" when I was 9, and in my life for the first time, that experience was like opening a door, a new sight and a new world for me. Since then, I started to read lots and lots of books, and my favorite stores became bookstores.

Besides reading, I love music (including singing, playing instruments and listening), drawing and handcrafts.

Book genres I like: YA, fantasy, mythology (ex rick riordan), paranormal, romance, dark romance(twilight).

Favorite book: I don't have a favorite, but there are a few that can be listed as "most loved" or 5"-star-rated".

Nice to meet you all!

message 2031: by Michael (new)

Michael Selden | 11 comments Welcome Tiffany—I know the feeling of a new word opening up through books.

Thanks and see ya round.
