I''m interested in what other people find that most attracts them to YA. For me the emotional content in the writing tends to be clearer and—often—more intense. The characters are younger, so the new feelings they experience in the stories are fresher to them, something I think people lose over time.
What are your thoughts? What about the tradeoff between plot complexity and emotional complexity? And . . when does Young Adult become New Adult? Is it based on character age, or on content? For example, I'll take two Stephenie Meyer books: Twilight and The Host. I view Twilight as YA, but The Host as New Adult, although the emotional age of the main character is ambiguous.

Hi Nancy. It's funny how the writing and the reading seem to interfere with each other, isn't it?

There is a plethora of pages and comments, and not sure if I have displayed my link and novel before but here goes:

For me as an adult living with my three teenagers writing teen, YA and adult fiction, well, it just fits. It feels like the perfect timing, a storm of emotions I'm tapping and the youth that drives the American dream forward!
I hope you give this book a try as I can't wait to further this story into a possible series, as the young Hawa and Francis find answers in their adventures!
Happy to be a part of your group.
Kim
Hi all,
I'm Polly, children's librarian and reader of massive quantities of YA and middle-grade fiction. Fantasy is my primary genre, but I'm willing to try anything!

To be published in July.

I'm TJ. I love both reading and writing YA books. Happy to be here with like-minded people.

Hi! My name is Deanna, and I love reading, writing, hiking, and embroidering. I also drink a lot of tea and eat a ton of good food! I've written a book called Ageless, which is about a girl who is destined to be eight years old for the rest of her life.

Hi Deanna! Embroidery is very tricky. I'm impressed. Ageless sounds intriguing.
Hi Isabelle! Jade is a beautiful name as well. You're so lucky to have so many beautiful names to choose from!
Hi Julie! I love YA books too!
So many others new to this thread. Hello! *waves wildly until falling over into the jello*

My name is Kynndra-jo and I'm a seventeen year old Booknerd who blogs and reviews YA books over at htto://www.booknadian.com. YA is my favorite genre and I can't wait to get to know some of you! c:

My name is Kanika Dhameja. I’m an avid reader and also a writer :)
I’ve written a lot of blogs. Lately I’ve written a novel for young adults titled “You are my Wonderwall” which is going to hit the stores pretty soon. It’s a story about unrequited love and I’m sure people will be able to relate to it.
I really hope to find the right audience here :)
Please watch the book trailer for my debut novel “You are my Wonderwall” here:

And thanks for having me.

Genre- YA, dystopian, Sci-fi, fantasy and thrillers! Thank you!

I'm a 23 year old mother with a wonderful partner, Stephanie.
We both read A LOT!
I've found that we prefer a lot of young adult fantasy or dystopian books and we spend alot of time reading to ourselves, together or to our 2 beautiful children. We are usually at the library atleast 3x a week.
Shoot me a message. I'd love to make some friends.

Happy reading!

I live in Melbourne, Australia, where I make my living as an IT Manager. Looking forward to exchanging views on YA writing :-)

I'm very glad to be here! I'm a Goodreads author and they're so kind to let me share my novels. Into the Vines is a novel of fiction with 414 pages-fast turning with characters so real you want them for friends like right now. Oh sorry, I'm getting carried away.
I'm thinking of writing a sequel, let me know your thoughts on that. Travel, planes, vineyards and Paris ignite the story; see for yourself what the fuss is all about.
Thanks,
Kim
