Will (longklaw) | 261 comments Has anyone thought about a PDX meetup? Wouldn't Powell's be the perfect place? My schedule is clearing up so it would be easier for me to attend.

message 2: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 102 comments I can't attend because I live in California, but I have been to Portland and Powell's and excellent call, sir. Perfect place for a meet up.

message 3: by Andy (new)

Andy (andy_s) I work in Portland and commute during the week. Powell's would work there maybe other venues as well... A local brew pub maybe.

message 4: by Sleep (new)

Sleep | 20 comments This needs to happen. Powell's would be perfect.

message 5: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Griffin | 54 comments I'm in Portland! Not sure where in or which Powell's would work- they tend to be crowded. There's a great coffee place on the east side called Bipartisan. I'm not into brewpubs (I know! I know! I live in PDX and don't drink beer! But I love rain!) Someplace that serves soda would suffice.

message 6: by Sleep (new)

Sleep | 20 comments I'm open as far as locations. Does anyone have a preferred time or date?

message 7: by Andy (new)

Andy (andy_s) late afternoon.... during the week maybe? Anyone else...

message 8: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Griffin | 54 comments I get off work at 4...

message 9: by Will (new)

Will (longklaw) | 261 comments 7 would probably be the earliest I could get there on a weeknight

message 10: by David (new)

David | 67 comments Assuming a time is picked that I can make, I'd be in. If Powell's is picked, it would be good to check in with them first and make sure it's at a time that wouldn't cause issues. It might be worth having two events - one east side, one west side.

What time is good for you? I can make west side meetings too; doesn't make a difference.

message 12: by Sleep (new)

Sleep | 20 comments I'm free most evenings, but we should probably do this soon. I'll be jumping into NanNoWriMo in November and I doubt I'm the only one.

message 13: by Will (new)

Will (longklaw) | 261 comments I live on the west side so I like the idea of two meetings. Would Nov 11 (Tues) evening or Nov 15 (Sat) afternoon be a good time?

message 14: by Andy (new)

Andy (andy_s) I the 11th in the evening would work for me.

message 15: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Griffin | 54 comments Nov 11 is ok for me.

message 16: by David (new)

David | 67 comments I live west side as well. Nov 11 is shaky for me, but I would try to make it. Nov 15 works.

message 17: by Sleep (new)

Sleep | 20 comments Looks like the 11th is the most popular date so far, and I should be able to make it.

I think it might be a good idea to at least have one meet up before deciding whether we need to split into rival book gangs.

What time are we looking at? 7:00? 7:30?

message 18: by Will (new)

Will (longklaw) | 261 comments I'm thinking 7:30. The Powell's on Cedar Hills has a book signing that night, so it would probably have to be the main one. I'll call to make sure it's okay.

message 19: by Will (new)

Will (longklaw) | 261 comments They both have something going on. I'll call both

Appreciate the leg work.

message 21: by Will (new)

Will (longklaw) | 261 comments They said the coffee shop at the main store would probably be the best place. I don't remember how much room they have there.

Cedar Hills has seating areas and a mall next door

message 22: by Sleep (new)

Sleep | 20 comments The main store has a sizable coffee shop area, if I remember correctly, and it might be closer for a larger portion of the group.

Full disclosure, I'm near Gladstone. ;)

message 25: by Pixie (new)

Pixie | 23 comments Aargh! I'll actually be in Portland on the 11th, but I was planning on taking the bus back to Eugene that afternoon.

It's a long shot, but anyone from Eugene/Springfield going to the meetup who'd be willing to give me a ride back to Eugene afterwards? It'll be me + luggage, and I'll happily pay for gas.

message 26: by Will (new)

Will (longklaw) | 261 comments There were just 2 people, but it was fun. We should try to do this again sometime.

message 27: by Sleep (new)

Sleep | 20 comments Actually, there might have been more that couldn't find us. We'll have to pick a less busy location next time. And maybe have a sign.

message 28: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Griffin | 54 comments I didn't see the final scheduling! Dang! I'll try to be more observant in the future.

message 29: by Sleep (new)

Sleep | 20 comments I think we should take another crack at a Portland meet-up. Thoughts?

message 30: by David (new)

David | 67 comments I'm up for another attempt.

message 31: by Sleep (new)

Sleep | 20 comments Sweet. Powell's might not be the best place. The cafe is sizable, but was packed to the gills last time. We might want a venue that's a bit more calm.

message 32: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Griffin | 54 comments I'd be willing to try again!

message 33: by Will (new)

Will (longklaw) | 261 comments Would love to try another one

message 34: by Sleep (new)

Sleep | 20 comments It looks like we just need venue options and potential dates.

message 35: by Will (new)

Will (longklaw) | 261 comments I'm super swamped lately. I wouldn't mind having a west side meetup ;)
