ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments My 4.5 and 5 stars are:

Heroes Are My Weakness by Susan Elizabeth Phillips Just fantastic
CryoBurn (Vorkosigan Saga, #14) by Lois McMaster Bujold My last Vorkosigan book , so sad to be done with the series :(
Worth the Fall (The McKinney Brothers, #1) by Claudia Connor such an unexpected read!

In September I read so many disappointing books , I read books expecting them to be amazing they turned out to be awful or just meh , I read books I thought I would enjoy but I hated them so much I needed bleach afterwards . I hope October is better.

★★★★★ Kushiel's Scion (Imriel's Trilogy, #1) by Jacqueline Carey Kushiel's Justice (Imriel's Trilogy, #2) by Jacqueline Carey Kushiel's Mercy (Imriel's Trilogy, #3) by Jacqueline Carey Not strictly classified as romance, but the romance aspect was very much a part of the plot. Loved them.
★★★★ Caine's Reckoning (Hell's Eight, #1) by Sarah McCarty Sam's Creed by Sarah McCarty Very hot for me. Really liked them, though the second one I liked a a bit better.

I've not long ago read Kushiel's Dart (Phèdre's Trilogy, #1) by Jacqueline Carey and loved. I need to make time to continue with them. So good to know the later books are good too.

This one had such potential and I really enjoyed the first half but then something happened to ruin the rest of the book (view spoiler). It is also far far too long.

I like Sarah McCarty's westerns. Her Promises series is really good and I'm up to Tucker's Claim (Hell's Eight, #3) by Sarah McCarty in her Hell's Eight series. Maybe I'll read it for this month's 2nd SGOM.

message 30: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments I've read one of the Promises series awhile back, Promises Reveal (Promises, #4) by Sarah McCarty , was my first book by her, and I liked it a lot. I really want to read the others! As for Hell's Eight, I'm hoping to read Tucker's story here in October if I can fit it in. Curious to see how he and the prim and proper and religious lady are going to work it out :)

message 31: by ⚜️XAR (new)

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) I think I had a rough month...I know I didn't get as much reading done as I usually do, especially at the end of the month, because I got sick with a nasty cold. Also, many of my reads for the month were only three star reads. I also had a lot of books reviewed that I read to my son, because one of the challenges I was in in my other groups was having me track every thing I read, even children's books. In the interest of space though, I'm not adding the children's books in.

Thanks for the heads up, LK! I thought about continuing the series, but figured out that I didn't like the first one enough to care about the rest, so abandoned it. Good to know that I made the right call about it!

Sorry you're feeling poorly, Trea. I see you read the Harry Potter prequel. Truly, how was it? I've been trying to save it but it tempts me...

And I should not be trolling this thread for recommendations when I'm currently partway through more than five books. Somebody stop me!

*laughs* I won't stop you, I've been in the middle of at least three before myself!

The prequel wasn't bad...we really got to see some of the dynamic between James and Sirius that you couldn't get from the books, but that's all there really was to it. There was no explanations as to events, and it was confusing to me. Granted, it's only 800 words or so, but still, I like things to make more sense than this did. I gave it three stars based on seeing the friendship in action more so than anything else.

That's what I was curious about. Years ago I read fanfiction about the 'prequel' generation all the time - some really good stuff, too. Will definitely pick this up after I finish what I'm currently reading.
