Katy | 2 comments I’m burning through this book so fast so wondering who else is reading it and what you think! Im finding the main character fascinating. I can’t decide if she’s stable or not and I love it. Eager to discuss.

Shirley | 7 comments Hi...am picking up tomorrow and will get back later this week with my thoughts...

message 3: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (hicks2317) Currently about halfway through. Personally, I found the first part of the book hard to get into, but that may be just me. I'm starting to question the main character and wondering if there is going to be an 'out of nowhere' plot twist coming up...we shall see!

I am only at page 135 and am having a hard time with it. I find it a little slow and keep putting it down.

Lacey | 2 comments I am also about halfway through, and I’m finding it really fascinating! But also spooky. I feel like I’m holding my breath with every chapter’s end... the main character is a puzzle, for sure. Although I am (currently) believing her story, and I find it frustrating that she does appear suspicious, even though it doesn’t necessarily have to be that way. And I know there’s gotta be a big twist!

message 6: by Lin (new)

Lin (linnola) Hello, I'm new to the group. I only read the first chapter or so because I needed to finish another book first. Will start reading it when I get home tonight. I'm glad to know from the above reviews that the beginning maybe a little hard to get into.
Happy Reading.

Shelby (hicks2317) Finished it! I only rated it 3 stars, but I’d classify it as maybe 3.5. At times it was exciting, but the majority of it wasn’t as exciting as I hoped. The ending wasn’t much of a surprise, seemed fairly typical of most mysteries. I’ve read many mysteries, so unfortunately I tend to compare them all, and this one fell short of others I’ve read in the past. So here I wait until September’s book!

Victoria Kahm davis | 24 comments Finished it. Loved it. I like flawed characters and there are so many here. The dichotomy between the locals and the summer folk is so authentic. I have lived in tourist towns and this place in Maine is just a fun place to go in your imagination. Great end you will not see coming

Agreed! ^^ Loved the flawed characters (even the "prestigious" characters were flawed), felt like I really got to know the little Maine town the story takes place in, and I also did NOT see the ending coming at all.

Katy | 2 comments I just finished and I was totally blindsided by the ending, from one twist to the next! I really enjoyed the mysteries in this book. It was so hard to know if the main character and storyteller was trustworthy which made it so interesting to read it all from her perspective. Also love books with repeated foreshadowing—her dreams and memories of her mother asking her what she sees. It was a little slow for me at times but overall I enjoyed it!

Susan Mabry | 60 comments I gave it 2 stars. Hard to get into from page one and very typical mystery. Loved the ending which propelled me to finish it. But disappointed in her lack of character development and suspense.

message 12: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 8 comments I totally agree.

message 13: by Debbie (new)

Debbie | 1 comments I loved it! I was fascinated with the quaint little town in Maine as I lived many Summers there. it brought me back to that time and memories flooded in. love the ending I gave the book five stars I did recommend it to some friends. great end of summer read!

Kavi Krish (thebooklifeofkk) | 1 comments Got this book today and already started to read. Not able to put it down !!

message 15: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 2 comments I was intrigued by the twist! I did not see it coming. Curious to hear what other people think of it.

message 16: by Casandra (new)

Casandra | 1 comments Wow I just finished and I didn’t see that coming, who I thought was involved didn’t do it and who I thought was genuine wasn’t. Great read for my first Hello Sunshine BookClub 👏😊

message 17: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Rosenthal | 4 comments This book was just ok. I found it fairly predictable. Probably wouldn’t recommend it to someone to read.

message 18: by JosLovesToRead (new)

JosLovesToRead (josbeaudin) 3* for me. Overall an enjoyable read, but I found myself putting it down for a couple of days at a time. I just didn’t find it compelling.

message 19: by Brittany (new)

Brittany | 2 comments I just finished this the other day and I agree with most people here. It wasn't a super predictable twist, but I struggled to like the main character... It was an interesting Mystery Novel for sure, I gave it a 3 :)

message 20: by Judith (new)

Judith von Kirchbach (judithkirchbach) | 11 comments I read the book but was not fascinated by it, it was an enjoyable read for a couple of hours on a weekend - entertainment - but it was not a great suspense thriller and the characters were also not really engrossing, I rated it 3*

message 21: by Leandra (new)

Leandra (leandramaura) I'm about 30% in, and it's just starting to get interesting. For some reason I can't relate to the main character, and that makes it harder to feel curious about what's happening next. we'll see!

message 22: by Tehcup (new)

Tehcup | 3 comments I thought it was alright. I listened to the audio book. Engaging enough but nothing amazing. 2.5/3 out of 5 stars for me

message 23: by Matt (new)

Matt (mawatson817) | 3 comments I thought it was a really fun read! It’s a bit generic - nothing too special or surprising in it - but I still thought it was really entertaining. The definition of a summer beach read.
