Loving that plan, Hannah.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I'm really amazed at how quickly we are getting through Round 5!

The Round 5, Four of a Kind theme is now a much more flexible "Mystery Genre." I'll still be working on books for this category, but feel free to fulfill any of these tasks that you want to, and I'll bump my reads over to Round 6. I'm trying to be as flexible as possible with this, to be sure we fulfill as many tasks as possible in this final stretch. This challenge has been getting me to read much more than I otherwise would be, which I love and I'll miss.

I've updated my Round 5 list, here. :)

Maria has finished "Fairer Than Any," which I'll post for her Round 6 Chance task, and she is currently reading "The Christmas Letter" that hopefully can be finished in time to be used for any Round 6 task it's needed for.

I'm currently finishing up "The Butterfly Recluse" for my Round 5 Chance task, which I'll post for shortly. :)

message 608: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments All that sounds fantastic, Monique! Thanks for the detailed update. I know Hannah has one mystery she's working on right now, so between you two, that category should be done soon.

Well done, everyone!

I'm with you: I'll miss the game, but mostly the camaraderie, which I'm glad we keep throughout the year in chats and stuff.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Our reading challenge ending is such bitter sweet because although I'll be missing it TONS—especially the chats and camaraderie we've had as a team... starting Monday I need to shift my focus to the novel I'll be writing next month during NaNoWriMo. This is one of the reasons I'm trying to get in as much reading now through Sunday as I can, enjoying it while it lasts, before the reading sprints are replaced by writing sprints. ;)

message 613: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Finished Section 1, #3, so we're done with all of Section 1 now. All we need to finish round five is...

Four of a Kind (3 books, but Hannah told me she's finished two today)
Yahtzee, teammate (Hannah's nearly done with this, I think)
Chance (Monique's working on this)

We're sooooo close to being able to get to the next round. Fabulous job, friends!

message 614: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Yay! We're especially close now.

What's left:

Four of a Kind: Mystery Genre (Hannah)
Chance (Monique)

message 615: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Oct 19, 2019 11:59AM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I finished my Chance book last night and wanted to post for it then but I was too tired to get out of bed and boot up my computer, and my iPad was having issues, so I've posted it this morning. :)

Now we're down to one task left for Round 5, which it looks like Hannah will be fulfilling. The books I had planned for that Four of a Kind category I lost access to on Scribd for some reason, so thank you for finishing this up, Hannah! :)

Today I'm reading: "The Curse of Misty Wayfair" by Jaime Jo Wright.

message 616: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Wonderful job, Monique! So sorry about the loss of those books. Silly technology!

Happy reading on that Wright book.

message 617: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I'll be finishing up the four of a kind for next round today. Full house I finished yesterday. I'll then be working on two of my section one tasks with Jack's Life and Prague Winter. Busy, busy! Can we breathe yet???

message 618: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Oh, that's annoying about Scribd! That's the hard part about subscription things because stuff runs out without notice...at least Netflix lets you know when things are about to expire. I wish reading subscriptions would do the same.

I have nine chapters left on my mystery audio. :)

message 619: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Awesome, Hannah. We'll be done with round five today!! Great job, Daisies!!!

message 622: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Oct 20, 2019 11:40AM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I really don't know what happened with Scribd... Everything I wanted to read on there was available and accessible to me, so I saved my planned books to a list there, and all of a sudden, within the last few days, more and more of my planned audiobook reads were flagged as "Available on 10/21", and now every audiobook I look up on Scribd says "Available on 10/21."

I'm excited to be posting for Round 6 now! Great job, everyone! :)

Maria and I are planning to complete the tasks of the Round 6 Small Straight category with:
#1 - MARIA - The Christmas Letter✔️
#2 - MONIQUE - Mere Christianity
#3 - MONIQUE - The Curse of Misty Wayfair
#4 - MONIQUE - The Devil in the White City✔️

I'll be reading this book for my Round 6 Chance task: Skeleton Man✔️

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Upon refreshing the page and seeing Andrea's updated list/tracker, I realized I made some mistakes on my last review post and my list, so I've fixed them.

I'm fulfilling Small Straight #4 as originally planned with:
The Devil in the White City Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America by Erik Larson ✔️

I'll for sure fulfill the Small Straight task #2 with:
Sammy Keyes and the Hotel Thief (Sammy Keyes, #1) by Wendelin Van Draanen ✔️

Also, for Small Straight #1, Maria will be finishing:

Sorry if there was any confusion earlier with my posts. I got them done as quickly as I could. Busy day all around over here, including a Half Price Books clearance sale, at which I scored a pretty big haul of books. (That's where I was when Abi posted her list of books.)

Monique, what I found with Scribd was that if you read a lot (particularly new/popular books), they start pushing back the date you can read additional ones--almost like a library check-out limit, but more frustrating since they don't tell you beforehand or give you any kind of warning before things get blocked off. Hope this helps a little!

message 642: by Andrea (last edited Oct 20, 2019 04:31PM) (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Chance is completely done for this round. :)

Here's what we still need to finish today:

Section 1, #1 - Andrea
Section 2, Three of a Kind #3 - Andrea

Section 2, Small Straight #1 - Maria
Section 2, Small Straight #2 - Monique
Section 2, Large Straight #4 - Hannah
Section 2, Yahtzee, title - Hannah
Section 2, Yahtzee, black/white cover - Hannah

If we finish all of these, we may also post some for a start on a seventh round. It's so hard to believe that's actually possible. :)
