Abigail Harris (authorabigailkay) | 174 comments Is Yahtzee one per reader? And thanks, Andrea!

message 102: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments No. Yahtzee is a section we're coordinating together. We've already filled in:
average rating of 4+ stars (Andrea)
title begins with Y,A,H,T,Z,E (Andrea)
red cover (Abigail)
white or black cover (Hannah)

The only category left to finish the Yahtzee section is:
a teammate or group moderator rated the book 5 stars

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Yay!! Abigail made it!

Sorry your computer pitched a fit 😰

Thank you, Hannah (sorry for the delayed reaction). 🙂 I hope to have another book review post done tomorrow."

No problem! We are off to a good start. :)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments I’ll claim a 4 on one of the straights with The Boys in the Boat Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown , which has 416 pages.

message 107: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Okay. I'll mark the Small Straight, #4 as yours.

message 108: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Two books completed on day one. Well done, Team Daisy!

message 109: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Update on my reading for the day:
42 of 60 chapters of Wives and Daughters completed

Whew! It's been an exhausting day. But a good one. This story is really adorable and precious yet so heartfelt and rich.

message 110: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Hannah told me she was switching her Small Straight book, so I updated that.

Soooo close to finishing Wives and Daughters. Should definitely be today. :)

message 111: by Hannah (last edited Aug 21, 2019 12:15PM) (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Just snagged a spot of the straights for a library audio that I'd forgotten was coming due. It's a shorty but at least it counts for something.

Large straight: 2
216 pages/2010 pub.
Protective Custody

Thanks, Andrea! I updated my original post.

message 112: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Will mark that down. Thanks, Hannah.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I was in the mood for a quick, creepy read today, so I decided to read "Dead Lake", which was recommended to me by a friend. I enjoyed reading this book, however it creeped me out a little more than I would have liked.
Dead Lake by Darcy Coates
I just posted for this book to fulfill Section 1, Task #3, so I'll be able to use "The Secret Garden", when I read it, for another task. 🙂

message 114: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Updated the tracker. Thanks for letting us know, Monique! Our current reads for section one, including that book, still qualify us for the bonus points. Yay!

message 115: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I just finished Wives and Daughters, so updating for that and posting my review in the next few minutes.

message 116: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Hey, y'all! We've already finished FIVE books, and this is only day two. Woohoo! High fives all around, Team Daisy! Wonderful work.

message 117: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Harris (authorabigailkay) | 174 comments Great, Andrea!

I just read Beneath The Surface and In Too Deep by Lynn H. Blackburn if that will work for three of a kind? (We took a few two hour plus drives the past three days so I had lots of reading time.) The three of a kind is Christian Fiction, right? And they don't have to both be for the three of a kind if other books are down for them.

message 118: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Harris (authorabigailkay) | 174 comments (That was suppose to be three hour plus drives in the past two days.)

message 119: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Monique, do you want one of these categories for The Secret Garden:

Large Straight, #3 (358 pages)
Yahtzee, teammate rated it 5 stars (Hannah did)
Chance (freebie)

message 120: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Abigail, that works great to fill two slots of the Three of a Kind (Christian Fiction). Thanks!

message 121: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments (And make that SEVEN books finished in TWO days. Woohoo!)

message 122: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Hooray, Abigail! I’ll let Andrea give her preference with categories, but with you adding two more, that’s seven books in two days, and hopefully I’ll be finishing another tonight 😋

message 123: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Haha, double posted the above....I was typing while Andrea posted. :)

message 124: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Haha! I type fairly quickly on my computer. Much slower on my phone.

message 125: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Harris (authorabigailkay) | 174 comments Thanks! I type extremely slowly in my kindle and faster on my laptop too.

message 126: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Glad to help.

I was thinking “The Secret Garden” would work great for the Yahtzee task, with Hannah having rated it 5 stars. 🙂

By the way... HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREA!🎉🙂

message 128: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Perfect! I'll jot that in on the tracker and my notebook.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I hope you had a really nice birthday yesterday, Andrea. You are such a wonderful friend and I hope your year ahead is truly blessed! 🙂
Also, thank you for all that you are doing to organize this challenge for our group! We are most definitely off to a great start! 🙂

I haven't been feeling well since Tuesday, and my mind has been out of sorts. Being sick is never fun, however the excuse it provides to relax and read is quite nice. I've just started reading “The Secret Garden”.

message 130: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Thank you so much, Monique. My birthday was wonderful. I am glad to use my organizational skills to help us out. I hope you feel well soon! The Secret Garden is a great book to read when you aren’t feeling the best. Hopefully it’ll distract you well. :)

message 131: by Abigail (new)

Beneath the Surface (Dive Team Investigations, #1) by Lynn H. Blackburn In Too Deep (Dive Team Investigations, #2) by Lynn H. Blackburn <-- I would love to read these books!
With your computer troubles, Abigail, if you could set your start and finish dates for these books and rate them on Goodreads, I would happily create posts for you in our team's review thread (giving credit to you), if you'd like. I really would love to help. 🙂

message 138: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Updated your finished book and slid Unbroken into the Full House spot. Great job! You're working on some good nonfiction for this challenge too, which is wonderful. Glad you can get a variety of books read this week. Vintage/classic, current Christian, nonfiction... way to go!

message 139: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Thanks! :)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Hello team, I hope you all are enjoying your reads and are having a nice day/evening. 🙂

The weather in my area has finally cleared up, so it's safe to have my computer back on. We've had some pretty crazy storms today and lightning struck just outside of my house earlier, knocking the power out for a bit.

I'm about halfway through "The Secret Garden" and I'm really loving it!

Also, I thought I'd let you all know that I am in communication with Maria. She is blind and I will be assisting her in any way that I can in this challenge. She seems very nice, is from Australia, and definitely will be reading books for this challenge. 🙂

She is currently reading:

With Hope and Love (Beach View Boarding House/Cliffehaven #17) by Ellie Dean <-- Works for Large Straight #4
"With Hope and Love" by Ellie Dean (400 pages, started on 8/22)

El Tiburon by H. Schussman <-- This will be Maria's Chance (freebie) book
"El Tiburon" by H. Schussman (370 pages, started on 8/22)

message 141: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Thanks for the report from Maria!

message 142: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Monique, I'm so glad y'all are staying safe. Sounds a bit scary there with that lightning so close to the house!

Thank you for getting in touch with Maria and sharing her books with us. I'll update the form as soon as I finish dinner.

Once we finish all our claimed books plus those chances, we'll be able to move on to the second run through the board. Woohoo!

message 150: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Aug 24, 2019 09:52AM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I'm really enjoying chatting with and helping Maria. Being blind, she uses a screen reader and not everything on Goodreads is available or revealed to her. She has just started reading:

Saving Sarah (Gold Coast Retrievers, #1) by Melissa Storm
"Saving Sarah" by Melissa Storm (179 pages, started on 8/24)

This is a Christian fiction book that will work for the final "Three of a Kind" task. 🙂

I hope you all have a blessed weekend! 🙂
