Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Great!

If anyone needs help, I have a 275 page book up for grabs, pub. 1923, so it would work for anything 1-3. Just finished. 😋

message 252: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Aug 31, 2019 12:28PM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I completely understand being busy, Andrea, and feeling to the need to unplug during storms (especially since lightning fried many of my family's electronics a couple of years ago, through serge protectors).

Maria has finished a book today that completes the Round 1, Section 2, Small Straight #3 task. I just made a review post for this.

26 tasks down, just 7 left to go now for Round One! Great job, team! :)

It would be great if you could post this book for the Round 1, Section 2, Small Straight #1 or #2 task! :)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Monique, how is your reading coming along? Are you enjoying the books you've got going?

message 260: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments I have another book up for grabs.

A Yellow Aster
270 pages
Read 8/30
Published 1894

message 261: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments That would fit Small Straight, #1, if Monique is able to slide hers to that spot in round two.

I have one I'm about done with that can cover one of the Christian Fiction slots in the Four of a Kind, because an audio I'll be reading in its entirety tomorrow won't work for that but will for my Chance book.

What do you think, Monique? Are these changes okay for you? We're sooooo close to finishing up round one. It'd be great to do that this weekend.

message 262: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Abigail, please keep working on Les Miz as you're able. We're going to slide that one into a future round, though, so we may finish up round one soon.

Team Daisy, we're doing amazing! Keep up the quick reading. So proud of all of us. High fives all around.

message 263: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Sep 01, 2019 12:30PM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Yes, it would be great for Hannah to claim the Round 1, Small Straight #1 task with A Yellow Aster. :)

I have the e-books of The Killing Tide, Where Hope Prevails, Shattered, and The Witch of Blackbird Pond on loan from the library. I'll have to return these books soon, so I'm trying to finish them all as quick as I can. One or more of these can be saved for Round 2, if needed. I'm focused on finishing The Killing Tide first, which I am loving and hope to finish either tonight or tomorrow. I'll post this book for my Chance task, making my other remaining tasks flexible. 🙂

message 264: by Hannah (last edited Sep 01, 2019 12:24PM) (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments Got it!

I completed another this morning, if you want me to post it.
Silence in the Dark 368 pages, pub 2016

message 265: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Sep 01, 2019 12:48PM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) That's great, Hannah! Feel free to post Silence in the Dark for the Section 2, Four of a Kind (Same Genre: Christian Fiction) #3 or #4 task. 🙂

message 266: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments I posted You Belong with Me for Four of a Kind #3, Hannah's doing #4. My chance book will be done by the end-of-day today. It looks like we might finish round one today. Yay!

Monique, thank you so much for your flexibility. I'm glad you're enjoying the Killing Tide. I've got that one from NetGalley but haven't started it yet. Good to know it's a good one.

message 267: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments I think we can finish today!! Killing Tide was a quick read for me, so hopefully it will be for you as well. :)

message 268: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Looks like all we have left is Monique's and my chance books. Yay!

I've got the audio on 2x speed, so it should fly by quickly.

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) It is wonderful how quickly we are getting through the first round! :) I've updated our progress in message #204. Has the Large Straight #1 task been fulfilled?

message 270: by Andrea (last edited Sep 01, 2019 01:01PM) (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Yes. Hannah told me she finished The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict for that one.

Hannah, did you post that one yet?

message 271: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments I have a book done if Abigail doesn’t finish, though it’s shorter.

message 272: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments From what Abigail told me in Hangouts, she's not very close to finishing Les Miz yet. Let's save Les Miz for the next round. The points will still count for us there.

Are you sure you have the right team?

If you're not already on a team, you may message Melanie (the moderator of the game) if you'd like to be considered for a fill-in spot if someone has to pull out for some reason. The sign-ups are already closed, but I'm sure she'd consider starting a fill-in list like that.

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Glad to help. If there's not a slot this time around, I hope you'll come back for whatever the next game is. They're lots of fun, and I think you'll love 'em.

message 279: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Monique, how's your chance book coming? It'd be great if it could be posted today, to finish up round one for us. Happy reading!

message 280: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Sep 02, 2019 12:18PM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) To make finishing Round 1 easier, so we can move onto Round 2, I've rearranged a couple of books/tasks in my review posts that have yet to be counted for points...

message 281: by Andrea (last edited Sep 02, 2019 12:12PM) (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Monique, we've already posted reviews for some of those, which means they cannot be changed (reviews cannot be changed once posted, which Melanie had stated earlier in the sign-ups, I believe). The only task we're waiting for is your chance book for round one. We have time to wait, so please feel no pressure.

Rearranging books after reviews are posted confuses everything too much as all records (trackers, notebooks, posted reviews) are already set by that point.

message 282: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Sep 02, 2019 01:34PM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Okay... Thank you for letting me know that, Andrea. I've reversed what I did. :)

message 283: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Thanks! Hey, don't worry about rushing, truly. We're still on a great track. Maybe focusing early in round two on the chance books will be a help to all of us to relieve any pressure. I love how we can learn these tricks as we go along. :) Hugs!

message 284: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Sep 02, 2019 08:17PM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I've been crazy busy, but I’d really like to finish The Killing Tide by the end of the day today.

message 285: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments You can do it! If you need reading sprints, hop over to Hangouts. Abi and I are both over there right now.

How's it going, Monique? You can get it done!

message 287: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Sep 02, 2019 08:49PM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) I ended up reading another book tonight to fulfill my chance task, Who Was Harry Houdini? (a quick read), so that we can get started on Round 2. I’m now going to read more of The Killing Tide, which I still hope to finish tonight, but now I won’t worry about holding our team up if I fall asleep before finishing it. 🙂

I’ll definitely fulfill my Chance task earlier in the next round(s). 🙂

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Congrats on finishing Round 1 so quickly, team! 33 books in 14 days. Great job! 🙂

message 289: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Well done, Team Daisy! We're the first team to finish Round One! :)

I'm also planning on finishing my chance a lot sooner this next round.

message 290: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Round Two has officially begun for us, so if you have any of those books done, let me know where they fit and post away! :) Remember to check the tracker at the top-ish of the page (I try to post it close to the top of every new page) for what's available, as some boos are already planned out. Thanks!

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen

message 297: by Monique the Book Geek (last edited Sep 07, 2019 07:37AM) (new)

Monique the Book Geek (moniquethebookgeek) Going back over the review thread and chat thread posts, I've fixed and improved my lists for Round 1 & Round 2, including adding links to each other and to Andrea's lists. I'm keeping my lists for each round separate to avoid confusion and to not go over the maximum text permitted for GR comments. I'm also really trying to have my lists be as simple and friendly as possible to the blind, for Maria. 🙂

My TBRs hardly ever go as planned, because library books become available to me at random times when I'm on waitlists for them, and books I've requested from publishers come to me at random times, with varying deadlines to read them. That being said... After finishing "The Killing Tide" (for Section 1, #1), I will be starting on "Where Hope Prevails" (for Four of a Kind #1), then "Shattered" (for Yahtzee #2), then restarting "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" (for my Chance task). I have about 2 weeks to finish and return all of these books to the library.

We're off to such a good start with Round 2. It really amazes me how quickly we got through Round 1, in just 2 weeks! If we keep up that pace, we might finish 4 rounds before this challenge ends! 😃

message 298: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (bookwormhannah) | 1527 comments I'd love to get through four rounds! And great progress on your reading. My library holds act the same way...you never know when someone's going to return something early. :)

Andrea Cox (andreacox) | 4741 comments Monique, will you please remind me who rated Shattered as 5 stars? Taking notes over here. :)
