Amazon's new 'Whispersync for Voice' gives you the option to upgrade Kindle books to include narration. You can then switch between reading and listening on your Kindle, smartphone or tablet. Usually there's a charge for the upgrade, but for selected novels till Fri 31 Oct, you can download both the audiobook and written version for free.
You will need an Audible account to get this, however Audible has confirmed you can sign up without committing to any monthly membership, so this is totally free. What’s more, these audiobooks are not just the audio versions of classic books, they’re properly narrated audiobooks from Audible, worth up to £23 each. Narrators include Kenneth Branagh, Tim Curry, Ian Holm and Martin Jarvis.
We asked Amazon whether a new selection will be available each month, but it wasn't able to confirm.
