Anna Here!

message 3: by Anna (new)

Anna I has just sort of imagined something sweet and simple that we could hopefully work on for a long time, or something. It's hard to find the right kind of people.

So basically anywhere between 20-25 for ages, I would think.

What do you think?

message 4: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Yeah, a sort of long-term type thing sounds good! Just be warned that when school starts I'm going to get very busy so it might be slow going for a while. But I've still got a couple weeks of summer break left until i've got to get back into school.

I usually do ages like 20-21 if that's alright with you. Did you have any ideas about them? How we want them to meet type stuff? As in, are they in university/college? Or did you just want to see what flowed best?

message 5: by Anna (new)

Anna Yeah, same here. I'll be busy with college and work and the like. I've got a few weeks left myself.

Yeah! Sounds great for ages. I hadn't really thought a whole lot of how they should meet or anything. Would you like to do the college one? Maybe they have the same classes together or are taking similar programs?
Either that or something else, I am open to ideas.

Also I'm trying to do well with having bigger nicer roleplay replies, so if some are short I do apologize. But I want to do well and be a better writer. :)

message 6: by Anna (new)

Anna Also, Idk what time zone you are in, but I'm heading to bed. I'll be on tomorrow!

Also, so you like complicated character profiles or simple ones? I'll do either.

message 7: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Sorry! I fell asleep last night. I'm in Eastern Standard time. So it's around 12:30 here.

I usually do complicated profiles just because I like to have something do refer back to. But don't feel pressured to do the same!

Yeah, college sounds good! What kind of courses do you think your character would be into?

message 8: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Oh, forgot about character stuff. I usually don't do a history though.

message 9: by Anna (new)

Anna Okay. :D No problem.

That's fine, I like creating bigger profiles, too, just wanted to know what you were thinking. And no history is fine by me. Sometimes that's just harder anyway.

Mmm....probably something like music/art or veterinarian stuff. I'm not sure. What about yours?

message 10: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments I might do like a bullet point history but it probably won't be very long.

I was sort of thinking that my character was going to be a country boy type thing. He grew up in a small town and is the first kid in his family to go to college. I felt like literature and music was sort of what I was thinking for him. Also just a question... i'm not from the U.S and I just want to clarify if we mean college college or college/ university?

message 11: by Anna (new)

Anna Okay! That sounds great.

Sure, I love that :) And no problem. I was thinking more of college college, so it's not super giant and you don't necessarily have to stay on the campus. I was going to have my character commute daily from her nearby apartment. Does this make sense?

message 12: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Yeah that makes total sense. So maybe they're taking a music class together? I was imagining that he probably doesn't live on campus either but rather rents out a house with a couple other guys. Or do we want them to be in the same apartment?

message 13: by Anna (new)

Anna Yeah! What kind of music class do you think? Instruments, or voice, or something?
The first idea of the house he rents out sounds best. Personally, there are a few things I am not comfortable with...Which is why I said no explicit. (view spoiler)

message 15: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments On the topic of rules:
I really want to make sure that you're not uncomfortable so one, if I do anything that you feel you don't feel comfortable with, please please tell me.

Two, for explicit type things: just a couple of questions. How do you feel on the kissing bit? Like can they have a first kiss and stuff like that? And I take that him staying over at night is a no then? Even if he's not living with her or even in the same room?

message 16: by Anna (new)

Anna Thank you so much for that. Some people brush it aside and act like they don't really want to listen. So it means a lot for you to say that. I will be sure to. :)

Kissing is fine. That doesn't bother me at all. Mmm...not really. If I was dating someone myself then I wouldn't want him to stay overnight, as to others around them, it could appear to be inappropriate or suggestive of something.
Any more questions?

(view spoiler)

message 17: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Cool, no sleeping over! Kissing is okay, got it! Just one more question on the topic of babies and all. Once they're married is it alright for them to have a conversation or two about wanting kids?

Anna Having a conversation about having kids is fine, too. :)

message 20: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Awesome! Thanks for answering all those questions... sorry to say there probably will be a lot more in the future.

message 21: by Anna (new)

Anna I love him 😍

message 22: by Anna (new)

Anna That doesn't bother me! Ask away if you are ever uncertain about something! I want us both to have a lot of fun with this rp, and usually I'm laid back.

message 23: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Thanks! I'm sure we'll both have a ton of fun in this RP!

message 24: by Anna (new)

Anna :D You're welcome! Me too!!

Anything else at the moment?

message 25: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Nope! Do you want to start?

message 26: by Anna (new)

Anna Okay. I will in a bit, have to do some chores.

Also, do you have a preference? Maybe in a class, or right after or something?

I really don't want to give you any lame replies!!!!

message 27: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments During a class sounds good! Sam is sort of forgetful so he'll probably have to ask her for a pencil or something

message 28: by Anna (new)

Anna ((Okay! Here goes nothing. Let me know what you think.))

It was only one of the first days at college, and Avery was, to be honest, nervous. She liked people, but she wasn't a loud person, either, so the idea of sitting in the midst of so many unknown faces made her a bit unsure. Currently, she was sitting in her second class of the day, dressed in slender jeans and a soft white sweater. It complimented her walnut hair that fell over her shoulders.

There were quite a few people taking this music class, but at the moment they were taking notes and having the basics explained to them instead of moving on to practice their instruments.
Avery reached for her bag at her feet, and pulled out her blue college ruled notebook, as well as her pencils she kept zipped up in a small denim case. She flipped open to a fresh page-admittedly, a few of the papers were already filled with little doodles among the other notes. She took out a pencil and glanced up at the teacher as well as the whiteboard to begin scribbling down several notes.

((Is this length okay?))

message 29: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Sam was more than a little bit nervous for his first class of the day. Most of his classes were in the afternoon, so this was his first ever college class. Leaving home had already been a terrifying event for him, so his first class was more than a little bit scary. Everyone was chatting madly, trying their best to make friends in this new environment. Sam wasn't against making friends but the loud excitement was a little bit too much for him. He had retreated quickly to the back of the room where the quieter people seemed to have congragated and sat down in one the seats. The room wasn't set up at all like he had expected it to be, since the movies always made it seem like there would be hundreds of other kids in his classes. But this was a small cohort and because it was a music class, the seats were set up in rows of semi-circles around the front.

He was a little bit disappointed that they weren't getting straight into working with instruments but he reluctantly took out a notebook from his bag. Another moment of searching though and he realized that he hadn't brought anything to write with. Silently cursing himself he looked nervously at the girl he had sat down next to. She had a bunch of pencils and he figured it would hurt to ask her for one. Leaning over he tapped her gently on the shoulder before smiling shyly at her.
"So... I sort of messed up... even though this is my first class and forgot a pencil... could I borrow one of yours?" He asked, his voice quiet but friendly.

message 30: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments ((Looks great! She already seems like such a wonderful character and the length is perfect!))

message 31: by Anna (new)

Anna ((Thank you! Also I've never been in a music class before so I'm just guessing XD

I fact this start in September will be my first time in college, I've always been homeschooled))

Avery finished writing down a certain word when she felt someone tap her shoulder. She turned her head a little, then smiled back.
"Oh, of course. I've got lots here...I did bring a little too many, but you're welcome to use one." She whispered, nodding, and unzipping her case again. She held it open, letting him choose whichever one he wanted.
Avery set the case of pencils and other writing utensils-highlighters, pens, and lots of pencils, mechanical and stick-down between both of them so they would both have access to them. She was sort of glad that someone had asked, because maybe this meant that she could possibly extend herself and try to be more friendly. She hadn't really talked to anyone here at all besides her teachers, and Avery was hoping to meet someone to talk about classes with, to study with, etc.

Max | 24 comments ((well we are both equally unequipt for this because i'm still in high school so i'm just guessing too! Good luck on your first year of college! That's probably really exciting for you... and nerve-wracking))

"Thank you." He said with a grateful smile. She had definitely come prepared and he selected one of the pencils.
"I feel like such an idiot... first day and I forgot a pencil." He told her, his eyebrows crinkling up in amusement at his own forgetfulness. He couldn't believe he had forgotten something so simple as a pencil. He had gone through his bag at least three times this morning to make sure he had his house keys, his phone, his notebooks and his student ID card. Amazingly, the thouht to bring a pencil hadn't occured to him once during that time.

He struggled to quickly catch up with all the notes he had missed when hadn't been able to write them down and then leaned back in his chair. The teacher was going on and on about some vocabulary that he didn't know and his forehead creased in concentration as he listened. Finally the teacher gave them a couple minutes to go over the vocabulary and get it into their heads and Sam glanced back at the girl.
"So how's your first day going?" He asked her quietly as he scribbled down some more words.

message 33: by Anna (new)

Anna ((Okay, cool!
Yeah, it's kinda freaky but I'm excited, too! Thanks!))

"It's fine," Avery chuckled a little. "You can even use the highlighters and other fancy things in there. I like drawing, so often I have lots of supplies." She explained, smiling back at his own grin. She managed to put down most of the words, only missing "atonal" and "cadenza." Later she would try to retrieve some sort of definition for them, whether from online or asking someone else, or searching it in a book.

Avery glanced back at the guy.
"Mm...pretty good. I'm still getting used to being here with all these people I don't know. Kinda weird. If you know what I mean? How about you?" She added, hoping he wouldn't think much about her awkward explanations.

message 34: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments He nodded his gratitude when she told him that he could use all the supplies spread out about her desk. He was pretty sure he would manage just fine with a simple pencil, but he thought it was nice of her to offer to let him borrow her stuff. He glanced back at the teacher who had sat down and was now talking with one of the students, probably explaining something. The other students had either turned to their phones or their friends and Sam felt a surge of happiness that he had someone to talk to also. Obviously, she wasn't a friend yet since he'd just met her and she probably didn't want to talk to him but he liked to pretend that maybe he was on his way to making a friend.

He smiled softly at her answer. He totally understood. Being here with so many people he didn't know. It was terrifying.
"I get exactly what you mean. I've never met so many new people in my life." He responded, glancing up around the room as if to prove his point.
"It's been pretty freaky. I've never been outside of my home town before so... this was a pretty big change." He told her, blushing slightly. He had felt like such a small town guy when he first came here. The campus was huge and the city it sat in was even bigger. He was constantly getting lost and overwhelmed by all the city noise. The pollution made him feel sick too. He'd never been in a place where so many cars passed through so often.

message 35: by Anna (new)

Anna Avery nodded understandingly. That had happened to her a few years ago when she was still back in high school. They had moved to this city because of Dad's work situation, and then she had started going to a public school. That had been such a huge change, and at first she wasn't sure she could handle it. But she had, of course, and now here she was at college that many years later.
"Yeah. That makes sense. I didn't think I'd ever be here, at college. But it'll be alright. You'll get used to it." She reassured him with a smile. "What classes are you in? I'm doing the whole music course, to learn the flute, and I'm doing a singing class. And then of course there are the required courses, math and English." She added, then turned a little pink. "I just sort of rambled on and on. Sorry about that."

message 36: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments "Yeah, i'm sure it'll be a great year." He replied with a small smile. Sam was trying his best to stay as positive as possible so that he didn't get homesick. He had cried like a baby when he had left, despite his older brother's teasing him for it. They liked to make fun of him for being sensitive but even they had cried a little bit when he had gotten on the bus that would take him away from the home he knew so well.
"I guess we're both lucky to be here." He added with a knowing look. Getting into college wasn't easy, only with massive amounts of help from a teacher who believed in him had gotten him here. No one had thought he'd actually make it.

"Well i'm taking some more advanced music courses and then a couple literacy and philosophy courses." In all honesty, Sam had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. He wanted to write music, and play music but he also wanted to write a book one day. He had so many interests it was hard to narrow down what he wanted to do. He chuckled in the soft way he always laughed and shook his head slightly.
"Don't apologize. It's nice to finally talk to someone." He said with mirth bubbling up in his voice.

message 37: by Anna (new)

Anna "Good choice!" Avery nodded, glancing over at the teacher to make sure their conversation was fine. It was, as the teacher was busy chatting with a student about some of the terms and definitions. She turned back to the guy and their conversation.
"I honestly was having such a hard time choosing what kinds of things to choose. I mean, I love animals, but I don't think I can handle the smells and surgeries that comes along with being a veterinarian assistant or technician. So I also love reading, writing, books, singing, and music of any sort. I sort of wish I was able to magically take a little of each, you know?" Avery chuckled at that. "And thanks. Sometimes...well...I don't normally talk a lot, so when I do, like now, I think I'm talking for hours or something." She giggled, a soft, sweet sound. "So in other words, same here."

"By the way, I'm Avery. Avery Sawyer." She introduced herself, wondering if she should stick her hand out to offer to him or not. She decided against it, because they were just in class and not on some sort of business trip.

When Avery had come here for her first day, she had been so nervous. She had already been living at her own apartment for about a year now, so when she had left, she had no one to say goodbye to. Her parents had called her that morning wishing her good luck, but that was it. On the way out the door, or at least her attempt, she had turned, ran back inside, and threw up in the toilet. Never had her stomach felt so fluttery before. But now here she was, with a possible friendship already blooming.

message 38: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments ((Sorry! Forgot to reply to this one. Feel free to remind me cause sometimes when they're in groups I forget about rps))

Sam couldn't help but smile even more at her words. She knew exactly how he was feeling. The indecision was horrible. He woke up every day and wondered if he had made the right choice. He was so young, he didn't know what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He hadn't been taught as a child that he even had options. He was going to work on the farm like his parents had. The idea that he would do anything else had been so out there he had never entertained the thought that he had a choice in the matter. But now there were too many choices. It wasn't as simple as just choosing what he wanted to do, he had to weigh the options. Some things made more money, other things he enjoyed more even other he was simply better at. He loved so many things he didn't want to close doors to those occupations but he couldn't spread himself too thin either. It was nice to know that he wasn't the only one struggling with this issue.
" I get exactly what you mean." He replied honestly, and his understand was apparent in his tone. He knew exactly what she was saying, how she felt, and it was obvious in his voice.

Her laugh was so sweet that he did a double take. It wasn' that Sam had never heard anyone with a nice laugh before but it had been a while since anyone had laughed in front of him. Everyone was so nervous and busy around here that they didn't have time for laughter. It made him a little bit sad. But her laugh was so soft and innocent that he had to smile at it.
"Nice to meet you Avery, i'm Samuel Smyth. But my friends call me Sam." He replied softly. He was both shocked and grateful that he had managed to get into a conversation with someone on his first day. Maybe college wouldn't be so bad after all.

The teacher had finished talking to the other student and stood up again, ready to wrap up the class with some final words. He reminded everyone to check their syllabus to make sure they got all their work done on time.

message 39: by Anna (new)

Anna ((Okay!))

"Nice to meet you, too, Sam." Avery nodded with a smile. She was glad how this college year seemed to be taking off. She was already talking to someone! Someone that actually seemed interested enough in responding back to her with more than just a simple "hi" or "I'm good."

She turned back to the front, watching and listening to the teacher a few minutes. When everyone was standing up, gathering their things together to leave the classroom, Avery once more turned to Sam.
"So what's your next class?" She asked, putting her backpack onto the table to begin replacing each item.

message 40: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Sam let out an almost happy sigh as the class ended. He wasn't happy it was over but rather happy that he had gotten through his first class. He had been so worried about it, and it turns out that it wasn't bad at all. The teacher hadn't been so interesting but he had already learned a lot. He wasn't like all the other kids who had been playing ever since they were toddlers and he had been mostly self taught. But even Sam's brothers, who hadn't cared a day in their lives about music that wasn't rap had to say that when he picked up a violin, something special happened. He poured his soul into his music. But it was nice to finally get some real formal education on the matter rather than going by pure instinct.

Standing up he handed Avery back her pencil and thanked her again for letting him use her stuff.
"I think I have... Historical literature...?" He glanced at his phone to check his classes before nodding. He still hadn't quite memorized his schedules for the week.
"How about you?"

message 41: by Anna (new)

Anna Avery took the pencil. "Anytime. Since I've got lots!" She laughed lightly again, as if it were so natural to her.
She thought a moment, thinking about her own schedule. She had been so worried about it and getting to her classes every day, so she had printed off a copy and posted it on her wall, as well as keeping one on her phone.
"I think my next one is singing, which I'm looking forward to. That will be my third and last class of the day, actually. How many more classes do you have?"

((Do you mind if some of my posts are kinda short like these?))

message 42: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments He couldn't stop thinking about her laugh. It was carefree, as if nothing in the world could bother her when she was laughing. As if she were in a bubble where you could laugh and pretend there was nothing wrong with the world in that one moment.
"Singing? Wow. Talented." He said gently with a smile. He might be a musician but he had never felt comfortable singing in front of people. His voices wasn't atrocious nor was it sweet like an nightingales, but it was perfectly okay. Still, he had never sung in front of anyone and he thought it was very brave of her to be taking a singing class.

"I have this class, next class and then a tutorial." He said, eyes crinkling at the sides as he tried to remember his schedule. The other students were filing out of the class, chatting with each othe and laughing. Sam knew that he should go to, just so he would have some time to get to his next class and explore the campus a little bit.
"Perhaps i'll see you around campus? Maybe you'd like to get a cup of coffee or something?" He asked shyly after a moment of silence.

((yeah, totally fine! Mine sometimes get short too))

message 43: by Anna (new)

Anna ((Okay! Thanks!))

Avery nodded. "I know...I'm a bit paranoid about it. I found out that we already have to do solos in class, which I'm a bit unsure of. I don't know. I just wanted to try something new."
She didn't think her singing was amazing, but her parents and family both loved it and had finally encouraged her to join the class. They said it would be fun and useful, and would be helpful for her to get more confident in singing overall.

"Cool! It's kinda hard for me to remember my own schedule...I keep checking it when I head on my computer in an effort to try and learn it." Avery admitted. When he mentioned getting coffee, she perked up more-if that were possible. She smiled brightly. "Yeah, I'll see you around! And coffee sounds great! What time are you done with your last class? After singing I'll probably head to the library and do a bit of studying or something. I could wait there for you. Then we can pick a place to go to." She swung her backpack onto her shoulder and tucked a few loose strands of hair behind her ear. She glanced over to the departing students and slowly started moving towards the door, still talking with Sam as she did so.

message 44: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments Sam smiled at her with his classic smile, a drowsy sort of half-curl of his lips. He always had the air of being only half there, as if some other part of him was far away, asleep in a sun-lit chair on the farm. He wasn't the kind of person who easily got excited about things, or worked up about them. He just sort of let life happen. It meant that he hardly ever got angry, but it also meant that sometimes he didn't get to feel the excitement or the nerves other people felt so strongly when trying new things. The only thing he got really nervous about was public speaking and going on stage. So, he got where Avery's nervousness was coming from.
"I'm sure you're going to do amazing... and if you don't, you're hear to learn aren't you?" He encouraged as they walked to the door.

He couldn't help but notice how she immediately smiled when he asked her to go to coffee with him. He didn't really mean it at all romantically (although she was very pretty) but rather he just wanted to be friends with her... for now.
"My last class ends at 4:15 so i'll meet you after that?" He said. Most of the other students had left already and Sam knew that he needed to go so he could find his other class.
"I have to go... but see you then?" He asked with a smile before he disappeared down a hall.

((Timeskip to when they meet?))

message 45: by Anna (new)

Anna ((Yeah!))

"Thank you," Avery said, heading out the door with Sam. She liked his easy going smile, and it made her feel comfortable around him. "I will learn. And so will you. I'm sure we'll both do great in both of our classes."
As they walked down the hall, she nodded. "Sounds perfect. So just come to the library and I'll be waiting, then we can decide on where to go. See you soon!" She said cheerfully, waving shyly to him as she departed and headed her own way to her next class.

***

When Avery's classes were finished, she remembered to head to the library to study and wait for Sam. She walked down the open hallways, noticing a strange feeling in her legs. It was as if her body was trying to make her gallop into the library and get the waiting over with! She had to control herself. Avery knew this feeling; it was simply the fact that she was looking forward to going out for coffee with someone she had just met. A part of her was telling herself to be careful, as she had only met the guy today in class, but another part was cheering her on to have as much fun as she could and get to know him, to let that friendship blossom.

When Avery reached the library, she pushed through the doors and found an empty table to work at. Since it was only the second day, she really didn't have much at all to do. But she could go over a few of the definitions from today's class, as the teacher seemed to have raced through it.
When Sam would walk in, she would still be sitting at her computer and typing a few words down on her computer.

message 46: by Max (new)

Max | 24 comments After a long day, Sam was looking forward to relaxing. It wasn't that he hadn't liked his other classes, it was all just so different from being home that he was exhausted. There were so many people to navigate and so much information to shove into his brain before class was over. The proffessors hadn't wasted any time with formalities, instead choosing to jump straight into the seminars. Sam had loved every second of it. He had never been in a place where he was surrounded by such like-minded people. He had always sort of been the odd one out on his farming community. Although he hadn't really talked to any other students he just felts this kind of energy of inclusivity that made him happy.

The campus was huge too and he had been rushing from building to building trying to find the rooms he was supposed to be in and the professors he was supposed to see. It took him a while to find the library. He kept taking wrong turns and the navigational talent he had learned at the farm didn't seem to be helping him at all int he confusing maze of offices and classes. Finally though he spoted a sign with the library rules and name on it. Letting a sigh of relief bubble past his semi-parted lips he pushed the doors open and survayed the room. It was huge and students sat everywhere in various stages of study and panic. Some students already seemed to be having meltdowns, unable to deal with how little they had understood from their first seminars. Others worked diligently, fingers clicking repetatively over computer keys. After a brief moment of searching, he spotted Avery's blonde hair and strode over, making his way around shelves and tables.

"Hey." He smiled softly at her as she reached the table she was working at. Like most of the students she already seemed to be working hard after only one day of classes.
"What are you working on?" He questioned politely to make conversation.

message 47: by Anna (new)

Anna Avery finished typing a word and glanced up, smiling a welcome to him. "Hey. I'm currently working on trying to manage to..." she shook her head a little as she explained, "...get this stuff all figured out. All the definitions from the music class. I'm done, though." She said, clicking off her documents page and closing the screen. Avery set her mouse on top of it.
"So, about coffee! Do you have a favorite place to go to? If not I know of one place." She smiled, then began to pack up her things scattered about on the table; two pencils, a notebook, an eraser, a crumpled piece of paper with some random numbers, and her waterbottle. She shoved everything in her backpack, then zipped it shut.
