Joan Switched narrators midway and I am now enjoying it more.

Labor Day is the traditional end of summer here on Long Island - and this seems a fitting book to read.

Joan Do you think some parts are figments of Tom or Doug’s imagination? I’m listening to the chapter (19 or 20, maybe) featuring Elimira and Mrs. Goodwater.
I’m left wondering what fantastical tales a 10-year-old could invent about the adults around them and reminded of the book “Harriet the Spy”

Joan I’m used to tales of imaginative pre-teen females growing up Anne of Green Gables, Little Women) but I hadn’t read any with boys resisting change and spinning fantastical stories.

Joan How would you describe a good death? Ray Bradbury sketches out one possibility in chapter 29.
I understand that Death Cafes are community discussions the help people articulate their own view https://deathcafe.com/. I haven’t been to one.

message 6: by Pam (new) - rated it 3 stars

Pam (bluegrasspam) This book felt like a collection of short stories. I listened to the audio and liked some of the stories but was bored with a few of them and didn't like the narration. I just checked out the ebook and plan to skim through it to see what I missed. Reading and listening to a book are just not the same experience for me. I read Something Wicked This Way Comes (book #2 in the series) and enjoyed it more.

Joan Pam, I enjoyed Something Wicked more, too.
