Michelle (michelletaylor) | 7 comments HELP! I'm in desperate need of a quick stand alone or maybe a trilogy. Just need something that I can end the book by saying "AWE...I LOVE THAT COUPLE". I need to get a bad read from my brain ASAP. I was heartbroken with the last book I read as the love interest changed from the first book to the second and I am gutted. I know, I'm such a sap! I need something to cleans my broken heart.

I've read quite a few, so I won't make a list of what I have already read, but I'm sure there will be suggestions that I haven't found yet.

No YA's please, looking for something steamy. ;)

I don't know if you have read this series or not but it is definitely steamy and the love interest doesn't change.

Can’t see your shelves or compare books due to your settings being on private so I’ll have to give a stab in the dark on this.

- Contemporary:

Off Course (Off, #4) by Sawyer Bennett Off Course. Although it is a part of a series, it most definitely can be considered a standalone.

About Last Night by Ruthie Knox About Last Night

Gas or Ass (The 'Cuda Confessions, #1) by Eden Connor Gas or Ass a trilogy. It’s first book is gritty and may make you abandon ship but the books after it are well worth it.

- Historic:

Improper Relations (Lord Shad, #1) by Janet Mullany Improper Relations An original one of a kind and a completely a standalone book.

Sins of a Wicked Duke (The Penwich School for Virtuous Girls #1) by Sophie Jordan Sins of a Wicked Duke Also a part of a series but I only found that out when I went to see if she had written anything else. Otherwise I would have just kept on thinking it was all that was written. The other books are about other people so it can be considered a standalone.

- Paranormal:

Dark Cravings (Dark, #1) by Madeline Pryce Dark Cravings Apart of a 2.5 series but You also said trilogy so I’m throwing this one out there.

The Wolf's Captive (BDSM Bacchanal, #2) by Chloe Cox The Wolf's Captive A bit of a different approach to the shifter stories.

Collared for a Night (Rocky Mountain Shifters, #1) by Susan Arden Collared for a Night Good solid standalone

Cozen | 500 comments The Virgin Proxy (Conquerors #2) by Georgia Fox The Virgin Proxy - Historic - There are several books after it but they deal with other coupling. It can be considered a standalone. Also, sometimes you can catch this one on sale for free.

Rebel (Comet Coalition, #1) by Aubrey Ross Rebel - Sci-fi - Also a part of a series that can stand on its own.

From Rags by Suzanne Wright From Rags - Contemporary - Also a solid standalone

Love Left Behind by S.H. Kolee Love Left Behind - Contemporary - Terrible on audible and lots of drama, A standalone.

Wicked (A Wicked Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout Wicked - Paranormal - This is a trilogy but there are at least two books currently that are a spin off of this story. Those two spin offs are with a different couple and currently incomplete at this time.

Cozen | 500 comments Born in Fire (Fire and Ice Trilogy, #1) by K.F. Breene Born in Fire - Paranormal - Trilogy. Book three, in my opinion, was so awesome that its quite possibly perfect. There’s also a spin off series to this one but that series is rated more towards YA than Born in Fire (and yes there’s hot action but that doesn’t happen until the second book. Its kind of a build up).

And that’s all I could come up with for now.

To pull myself out of a weird funk, I would probably go for something by Suzanne Wright or Shelly Laurenston for a paranormal read featuring a super-loveable couple with great chemistry and smart banter that pulls you in right from the first page. But then again, these 2 authors are so popular that there's every chance that you've already read them. But here are a couple of the best in case you haven't. However, none are strictly standalone reads but a couple are from a trilogy. Of course, you could just stop reading after the first book. I don't really recall any cliffhangers.

Burn (Dark in You, #1) by Suzanne Wright Burn by Suzanne Wright (Dark In You #1)

Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright (Phoenix Pack #1)

The Unleashing (Call of Crows, #1) by Shelly Laurenston The Unleashing by Shelly Laurenston (Call of Crows #1)

If you've already read those suggestions, I know of another author with a similar sense of humor to the above but she's only written a couple books in the paranormal genre so she might be a new author to try unless you also read a lot of contemporary romance. But do try this trilogy by Lani Lynn Vale if you're a fan of Shelly Laurenston, G.A. Aiken, or Suzanne Wright.

I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie (I Like Big Dragons, #1) by Lani Lynn Vale I Like Big Dragons and I Cannot Lie by Lani Lynn Vale (I Like Big Dragons #1)

Have you tried anything by Kresley Cole? Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (Immortals After Dark, #3) by Kresley Cole Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night The Immortals After Dark is a series that is larger than just three books but each deal with a couple and has a beginning, middle, and an ending within the bigger story. I read them out of order and it never phased me. I only ask because you can find her books at most libraries.
