In his penultimate adventure, a devastated but determined Apollo travels to Camp Jupiter, where he must learn what it is to be a hero, or die trying.

It's not easy being Apollo, especially when you've been turned into a human and banished from Olympus. On his path to restoring five ancient oracles and reclaiming his godly powers, Apollo (aka Lester Papadopoulos) has faced both triumphs and tragedies. Now his journey takes him to Camp Jupiter in the San Francisco Bay Area, where the Roman demigods are preparing for a desperate last stand against the evil Triumvirate of Roman emperors. Hazel, Reyna, Frank, Tyson, Ella, and many other old friends will need Apollo's aid to survive the onslaught. Unfortunately, the answer to their salvation lies in the forgotten tomb of a Roman ruler . . . someone even worse than the emperors Apollo has already faced.

Starting!

Up to ch4. Apollo really is unlucky, but I confess to finding this opening disaster quite amusing.

Up to ch11. Their arrival at the Roman camp shows how bad things have become. Pretty sure Apollo will recall what’s needed in time.

Up to ch23. Definitely not on a good place, but I’m hoping Lavinia will find a way to pull out a trick.

Up to ch33. The interaction between the characters is so well done.

Up to ch39. The battle seems to go one way, but I’m hoping for a swift about-turn soon.

Finished. I know I'm not the target audience for this, but it's a cracker. I'm loving the changes in Apollo, and the way other characters are taking a more central role on occasion. I'm getting concerned that Apollo might not get his wish to return to godly form - you have to hope his luck will hold out for just one more epic battle. Full review on home page.

I'm kinda sad Apollo didn't get to try and woo Reyna, but I'm also SO HERE for her going out and discovering herself. I need the last book now (hide spoiler)]
