I have recently read this with my local book club and it's one of the best I have read this year. It's laugh our loud funny in parts, it's also sad but very heartwarming at the end.

I read this one recently. I concur with your assessment. It put me in mind of Britt-Marie Was Here by Frederik Backman.
Read this earlier in the year funny and sad worth a read.
