Might it worth sending an email about this Jenny? Might get a lot more interest if the newer members are aware of it.

message 3: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jeoblivion) | 4893 comments I too was wondering about this just today actually. I might send one out this week. Thanks Alannah!

Me too Jenny, I'm not due for another go until December, but if you ever have a free week that no one is taking, I'm always happy to jump in. :) But I love Alannah's idea - the more different people who participate in Monday Poem the better!!

Awesome Sandy! :)

I've been enjoying seeing the variety of different poems people are sharing. Your mission of exanding your horizons is a great one!

I'll message you when I get home - my lunch hour is technically up. If you can, message me some poem or type of poetry you've liked or even some topic, and based on that, I'll come up with some possibilities to look at :)

One I think you might connect with if you haven't read it already is "Ballad of Reading Goal" that Oscar Wilde wrote from prison. It's a long one. But such a sad, heartfelt poem - bitterly anger at Boise over his predicament and yet also shot though with tenderness & remorse. Scroll down past all the project Gutenberg boilerplate junk to get to the text of the actual poem. http://www.archive.org/stream/ballado...

Let me know what you think :)

Alice Poon (alice_poon) Oh, I love Oscar Wilde's "Ballad of Reading Gaol" - it's heartbreaking!

Sandy, I knew very little about poetry when I started posting on the Monday poem thread but it's helped me start to develop an interest. There are loads of good websites such as poemhunter which are a good place to start browsing poems

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) I'll take one of the slots - oh maybe I'm not entitled yet - sorry can't remember when I posted one ...

Thanks for collating all the Monday poems so far, Jenny - that's fantastic :)

Jenny (jeoblivion) | 4893 comments I've put you down for the second Monday Jean !

Aw thanks,my vision is a bit blurred from all that GR html business of linking, but that will pass ;)

message 16: by Shellie (new)

Shellie Uchtman (shelluch) | 60 comments Let me know what is left open and I will gladly participate. My only problem is (if I may ask) I might need a little reminder with the holidays coming up my work schedule as been a little hectic. I would love to read and learn new poems. Thanks for considering me.
Shellie

Jenny (jeoblivion) | 4893 comments The third Monday is yours in that case! (I will try and remind myself to remind you! Between our two brains we'll manage)

For anyone else who would like to share a poem, I've just opened the Sign-Ups for December here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Noorilhuda Noorilhuda | 185 comments Jenny, hi, my pick is Sylvia Plath's Daddy. Put me up for 3rd Monday of November, that's 17th of Nov. Does that work?

message 22: by Jenny (last edited Oct 26, 2014 10:00AM) (new)

Jenny (jeoblivion) | 4893 comments Noorilhuda, Shellie just beat you to it! ;). But we still have 5 weeks to pick from in December, would you like to post a poem then? I put you down for the first December week, let me know if this suits!

You can tell me here or over in the thread for December Sign-Ups: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 23: by Noorilhuda (new)

Noorilhuda Noorilhuda | 185 comments Jenny that's just fine. Great thanks! Looking forward to it.

message 24: by Elisabet (new)

Elisabet (cairoelisa) | 10 comments I just learned about this. I's like to sign up for December and share a poem from a New York poet named Garrett Buhl Robinson. Poetry is not my passion; however, once in a while I come across a poet that moves me emotionally.

message 25: by Gill (new)

Gill | 5719 comments Elisabet, december's full now. This is where you sign up for January

I love this idea and I will definitely participate. I am too pressed for time to do anything right at this moment but I will be in touch soon. Thanks for he great idea (although involvement in Good Reads is becoming a full time pursuit for me).

message 28: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jeoblivion) | 4893 comments Bob, it's funny how Goodreads can actually get in the way of reading! ;)Our Monday Poems are filling up pretty quickly at the minute so I've just opened the Sign-Up Sheet for February 2015 which is here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/....

No rush though, this feature will be around for a while, so whenever you feel like it, let me know.
