Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Rally Trish? I am thinking of calling customer service and seeing wtf is going on. They had this sale one day and I bought 5 books so starting all over again would super irk me. Now I know to download all the books staright away, darn it darn it darn it! @#$%^&*!!!

Donna, it wont recognize my pw and when I wrote customer service they never responded, when I requested my pw sent to me they never sent it. Argh!

message 452: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Trish, I did call customer service and was actually not on hold for very long. Also they did fix my issue which had to do with the username and the pw not matching. I logged in successfully and dowdloaded all my books this time. I happily went to bed last night listening to an audiobook and am almost done with it already (I was halfway through the book book but lost it so I bought the audio version).

message 453: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I know right? I would have appreciated a free credit so I could get another book darn it! LOL Have you gotten your issues with audible worked out?

My husband not only works in thr village where they sell books for pennies but he also works in a building so many people leave books behind when they move or leave them in the laundry room for someone else. So I am that someone else and he got me:

Third Degree by Greg Iles
Smoke Screen by Sandra Brown
Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson
Waking Nightmare by Kylie Brant
Now and Then by Robert B. Parker and
The Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston

I am not a big fan of some of these authors but I thought I would at least bring them home and check them out if I don't like it then I can share them here on GR or give them to a friend.

He found 3 more!

The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews
A Sea of Troubles by Donna Leon
Unhallowed Ground by Heather Graham

He also found a bunch more Sandra Brown but one is enough for me. He also found A Reliable Wife and even tho I already have it I figured I would put it up on GR swap.

message 458: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I am listening to A Reliable Wife right now!

Kathy (readr4ever) | 300 comments I better be receiving Mockingjay from Amazon today. I was hoping it would actually arrive on the day it was released, but no such luck. If it doesn't arrive today, I won't be pre-ordering any books again.

message 467: by Paula (new)

Paula Ok, when I'm stressed out I buy books, and I've been stressed lately so this was last week:

Blameless
The Left Hand of Darkness
Farthing
The Gargoyle
The Fleet Street Murders
The Other Queen
Cranford
An American Tragedy
Veronika Decides to Die
Barchester Towers

The best part is that I am going with my future sister-in-law to pick out a ring for my fiance, and we're covering up by saying we're going to a used bookstore, so I have to come back with more books! :)

message 468: by [deleted user] (new)

Thats a very good excuse Paula... Just dont forget to get the ring :)

message 469: by Paula (new)

Paula Ha! No, not forgotten :) And another 10 books to add to my Mt. TBR! :)

message 470: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 300 comments I ordered a bunch of books from Amazon yesterday on children's literature and reading, and then, I went to Border's later and bought Ape House, as I had a 33% coupon and the book was already 30% off.

message 472: by Paula (new)

Paula You're going to have to teach me this whole 'my-husband-went-to-the-store-and-bought-me-10-books' thing! :)

Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments Well, I have done some book shopping "damage" over the past week and a half, I have bought the following:
Deadly Kisses
The Moor
O Jerusalem
Murder on Marble Row
Murder on Lenox Hill
Skeletons at the Feast
The Unfinished Clue
Innocent Fire
A Woman of Independent Means
Footsteps in the Dark
Dawn's Early Light
The Face of a Stranger
Paragon Walk
A Dangerous Mourning
Messenger of Truth
The Secret
Shadow Music
An Incomplete Revenge
Bride of Pendorric
Ransom
Glittering Images
Glamorous Powers
Among the Mad
Prayers for Sale
The Rose of Sebastopol
The Day the Falls Stood Still
Gentlemen and Players
Fall of Giants
Tears of Pearl: A Novel of Suspense

The majority of these are historical fiction (can you tell that is my FAVE genre?), but I think I picked some good ones! I am trying to make room for them all, but right now they are in stacks in the guest bedroom, waiting with the others that I still have not read yet. I only shelve them once they have been read, so yes my GBR looks like a library...oh well. The stacks just keep growing bigger and bigger and my hubby is like "where are you going to put ALL of those books?", he just groans every time I bring new books home!

message 481: by [deleted user] (new)

Anna is there anything left in the stoor???? lol

Do they have shopping carts there???

message 483: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 339 comments Anna, when do you plan to read Fall of Giants? I have it, and I'm going to start reading it next week - just as soon as I finish the firstreads book that I've finally received. :)

message 484: by Anna (new)

Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments You guys are too funny! I ordered the majority of the books from www.thriftbooks.com, which is a used book website and it is FREE shipping on any order and the rest I either bought at B/N or ordered on line at B/N.com and since I am a member it is also FREE shipping. The books have been coming in like crazy and I had them all shipped to the office, so the hubby would not see all the packages arriving, but then I remembered I still had to get them all into the house! They ship them from all over the U.S., so it is not like I just receive one huge box, I am receiving multiple packages. Wednesday, I received a huge box from B/N and then 5 separate ones from thriftbooks, just to give you an idea. Oh well, the stacks of books just keep growing and growing in my guest bedroom!

Jenni, in response to your question, I am getting ready to start reading Fall of Giants probably tonight! I cannot wait! I am currently reading Tears of Pearl: A Novel of Suspense, but will be finished with it by this evening. We will definitely have to discuss it as we are reading it, it is 1000 pages, so there will be PLENTY to discuss.

message 485: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 339 comments Anna - you're so cool! :)

I'll try to hurry up with the books I need to get done. I'd love to be able to chat with somebody about this book. I'll let you know when I start! :) (Cross your fingers - hopefully by Sunday or Monday!)

Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments I have a few more books to add to the above list of books I bought this week...did a little more damage last night, but not too bad b/c barnesandnoble.com is having a HUGE fall clearance sale, so technically, I got a really good deal (hey, if it makes it okay in my mind, I go with it). I bought the following:

Henry's Sisters
Beneath a Silent Moon
Cathedral of the sea
East of the Sun
The Case of the Missing Books
Miss Julia Speaks Her Mind: A Novel
Seduction Becomes Her
The Tenth Gift

okay, that will be all for a while or at least for a week or two :-)

Jenni, I sent you a message regarding Fall of Giants b/c I want some feedback from you and I am dying to discuss it with someone! Talk to you soon.

message 489: by Anna (new)

Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments So much for that being all for the week, I could not even make it two days....I got bored at the office today and I ordered the following:

Murphy's Law
Death of Riley
For the Love of Mike
In Like Flynn
Silent in the Grave
Silent in the Sanctuary

okay now that is IT (at least for this week)!

Sarah (sarah23l) Just a guess - did you hit up the B&N fall clearance sale? I recently bought several of the same titles from there. Happy reading!

message 494: by Anna (new)

Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments Sarah, you are SO right, I did hit up the B&N.com huge fall clearance sale and I also use thriftbooks.com b/c it is always free shipping and for used books, they are usually in really good condition. What books did you end up buying?

message 496: by Anna (new)

Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments Well, I have done really good this week and I have only bought one book...Yeah Anna. I bought The Gargoyle last night at Target and I started it immediately. It is so very intriguing! I am sure I will do some more book buying damage this weekend, but the space/storage situation is getting out of hand. I was looking at my TBR piles of books last night and I remembered I still have 13 books to be delivered to me, oh me, oh my, where are they ALL going to go. I know the reasonable thing to do would be to read the ones I already have and then order/buy more, but it is just too hard b/c there are sooooo many books that I want and that I must have (do I sound like a spoiled kid or what, well I am 36 yrs. old and if this is what I want to splurge on then so be it)!

message 497: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jennifertudor) | 145 comments My latest finds:
- The Sixth Wife by Suzannah Dunn
- New Worlds, Lost Worlds: The Rule of the Tudors, 1485-1603 by Susan Brigden
- The Tudor Age by Jasper Ridley
- Mary Tudor: The Spanish Tudor by H.F.M. Prescott
