Thanks, Lyn. I think I like the first option. I hope to explore it a little further this week.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) I like the first option also, it is very quick and easy. Then I can just drop the book in any mailbox and never have to go into the post office.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 300 comments Isn't there a rule that is you have a Border's coupon, you have to use it? LOL! Saturday, I bought two Camus books, The Plague and The Stranger, with some wild idea that I could fit one or both of them into my reading next month. The Plague is a group read for Book Nook group. I read The Stranger years ago and would like to refresh my memory. Then, I, also, bought The Bad Book Affair: A Mobile Library Mystery, sequel to The Case of the Missing Books, which I have and haven't read yet. Gee, I must really be an optimist, thinking I will fit these in anytime soon.

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Lyn and Kathy, per swaptree: I also find I get more trades if I keep up on the books that are the most popular. Harry Potter is always on the list as well as James Patterson, and Jodi Picoult books. I go to the used books stores and the local Salvation Army, at the SA I can often find books for a dollar. I also go to the dollar stor to get the shipping supplies (the bubble wrap packages I can get 3 for a dollar).

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Colleen - So far, I have been able to just reuse the envelopes that people have sent me books in, especially if I open them on the very end carefully. What a great idea, to get cheap popular books to trade.

Kathy - I won't even look at Border's e-mails anymore because I don't want to see the coupons. And I definitely do not walk in the stores. If I do, I'm lost.

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Me too Lyn! I have to gather my strength soon since I decided I am going to get both my little cousins a Borders gift card for Easter. In, two gift cards, out, run to the car... that is the plan.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) I can't wait to see if it works, Colleen!

I love Borders but they keep closing!!! I am now forced to go to B&N which is not entirely bad but Borders always have better deals and it seems like they have m ore of what I am looking for.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Donna - that is horrible. Our Borders and B&N are almost interchangeable as to what they have, haven't checked on the deals. These days, I try to avoid both!

Donna (dfiggz) | 3119 comments Mod
Well, B&N have great prices online only but Borders always has the best bargain books.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Ahh. That would make a big difference.

Do you really think you can do that, Colleen?

I actually like the ambiance of Barnes and Noble better, and I am a member where I get 10% discount, but I just get better coupons from Borders it seems.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) See, Kathy, I am a member of both, that should tell you something! (Like I am addicted)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 300 comments Lyn M wrote: "See, Kathy, I am a member of both, that should tell you something! (Like I am addicted)"

I am an addict, too, Lyn. I am a Borders Rewards member. It's hard to say what is really better, since B & N gives a discount every time, but Borders has great coupons for single book purchases. Hmm, I'll have to think about this one further.

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I have great will power, Kathy, so I can certainly try!

I get way better coupons from Borders!

Well, you have to let us know how you do. Will power versus book love? Hmmm, interesting battle.

It so worth a reread, Donna. I think I'll have to read it again this year, too.

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Hawaii is grand Donna!

Kathy I have not but I am on a big catching up on un-read classics tear this year so I will let you know when I get to it.

That other used bookstore here, I was thrilled about the $1 section. I had my arm falling asleep and yet again a store worker made me take a handbasket. I need a new bookshelf, my two are full now!

Kathy (readr4ever) | 300 comments I really, really try to be good, but then a book comes out that I really, really want (is there any book I don't want?). So, I bought Ariana Franklin's new one in the Adelia Aguilar series, A Murderous Procession and decided to get a teen book, too, A Living Nightmare by Darren Shan (hey, it's about vampires, couldn't resist).

I now have 705 books in my bedrooom in 6 bookcases and now they are going on the floor as there is no room lol.

message 229: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I am too scared to count but I should, just to see. My hauls in March were out of control but the fun is over now since my book hating hubby is home.

Mine loves me to get books, cos he is starting to nick some lol.

message 231: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Mine is a non-reader; doesn't understand re-reading, why I would ever keep them after reading, why a used bookstore almost puts me in a frenzy, squealing like an idiot at a good book find...

My husband doesn't read but he also doesn't mind my book craze!

message 233: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 71 comments Yup, add my hubby to the nonreader list! He just doesn't get it. Going to the bookstores is like pure heaven to me; he just mopes and pouts the whole time we are there while I run from section to section saying, "oooh, look at this one. Oh my. I want this one. Wow, that looks good!"

I tried to include him in my readings, but he just smiles and nods and ignores me. I told him I want to read before going to bed, he says, "okay. I'm gonna roll over and go to sleep, but you can keep reading." I was hoping he would read too, but no luck...

I just bought Wicked Lovely By Melissa Marr.

As I said my hubby doesn't mind me reading but he doesn't seem to understand that whhen he talks, and I am reading, I am not listening to him! I have always tried to include him. I would go out and buy books that I know he would love but he never reads them.

message 235: by Kathy (last edited Apr 06, 2010 09:32AM) (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 300 comments Fiona, I can't believe you were brave enough to count your books. I, like Colleen, am way too scared to do that. My husband doesn't say much about all of my books, as he has his "stuff," too. Of course, it helps that he is not home much, and I always clear a space for him in bed when he is home. LOL! He does like to read non-fiction, mostly about the Civil War and WWII, and I enjoy finding him books that he likes on these subjects. I'm usually reading the fiction on these time periods. I just ordered more books from Amazon. I know I joke about it being an addiction, but it truly is.

message 238: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 300 comments Lyn--Wow! Jenni, forgive me for being happy you fell.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Jenni - Those look like great books. Gail Tsukiyama is one of my favorite authors, and I have heard good things about a lot of the other books you got.

message 240: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 339 comments Kathy,

Yeah, I'm actually impressed that I stayed on the wagon as long as I did. But I saw Lyn's list of treasure, and a friend posted in a different forum a similar size list... so I got weak and splurged! It's such a great addiction! :)

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Jenni - Glad I could help, LOL. The above is also a big fall of the wagon for me, so I know how it feels. The books above are the first splurge I've had since November last year when I got money for my birthday. I've had all that pent up demand!

message 242: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 339 comments Thanks Lyn! I thought that they looked good too! Two of them have been on my wish list for awhile, so I decided to splurge. Nobody's Prize is the sequel to another book that I have (Nobody's Princess) but haven't read yet. I'm strongly considering heading over to the website you mentioned, but I'm trying to be strong again... cross your fingers for me!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) They are crossed, Jenni, and if you resist you are certainly a stronger person than I am!
