Lyn, I did! Thank you so so so much!
Just ordered The Sage and the Scarecrow from GR bookswap and am going to pick up Life As We Knew It from the library now!

This will be the first Tudor era book that I have read. I read the description and the first paragraph and it seemed interesting to me. I don't know of any other Tudor era books out there, what can you recommend for me?

I would like to focus on non-fiction, but I have an open mind and read just about anything. I don't have a favorite person, that is why I want to read about them all and learn about them all to see which ones I like the best.

Tracy, two good non-fiction books to start with areThe Autobiography of Henry VIII: With Notes by His Fool, Will Somers and Thomas Cromwell: Henry VIII's Most Notorious Minister: The Rise and Fall of a Tudor Tyrant: The Rise and Fall of Henry VIII's Most Notorious Minister. The first one is a huge fav in the group and the second was a recent group read.

I love how you call it the candy store...that is exactly how I feel and I can spend hours just browsing and then of course buying :-) I live dangerously close to a large bookstore and it is soooo hard not to go in every day. It is not that it would be bad to go in every day, it is that I would end up buying several books every time I went in and that makes it dangerous! I did two BIG book shopping sprees in April and I still have 32 books patiently waiting on me to read them, each begging to be the next book chosen.
I am looking forward to starting Her Mothers Daughter, a Novel of Queen Mary Tudor. I love Historical Fiction and Non-Fiction, especially books set in England or about English people.

I pre-ordered The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest and just got word that it was shipped!! Wahoo! I am so excited. I might put it up for swap after I read it simply because I don't have the other two because I got them both from the library and I can't break up the collection!

I haven't started it yet I think it might be like 5th on my shelf! I may start it wen you finish it LOL

Let me know how that works out. We have been saying that forever!

Wasn't that how the first one started??? A little slow??

What I had not intended to do and did was to buy some books in T.J. Maxx yesterday, but how could I resist the prices, 9.99 compared to 15.00. I picked up Olive Kitteridge and Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet for me. For my granddaughters, I got the young reader's edition of Three Cups of Tea ($5.99) and a beautifully illustrated (by Robert Ingpen) and bound copy of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Good for you guys Trac and horray for Phil being back!

Have you read them, Donna? I've seen mixed reviews on Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, but the subject matter really appeals to me, so I'm planning on reading it this summer. If T.J. Maxx sold groceries, I don't think I'd ever need another store. LOL!

I've read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet... while there are some errors (such as an on-line support group in 1986) in the book, it was a well told story about a dark spot in US history. I would recommend the book! :)
