Anna (stregamari) Don't you hate that! I get so impressed by my own largesse, and then get frantic because I knooow that I will never get them back. I loaned my Jack Daniels series by JA Konrath to a friend, over a year ago!

I have so many of those stories. Some of them all too depressing to mention!

message 353: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments That is one of my biggest pet peeves is loaning books to people who don't treat them with TLC like I do. I hate loaning out books to anyone so I only do it now if I am resigned to not getting the books back; like the mass amrket paperbacks or books I didn't really enjoy enough to keep.

Well the ones that I did lend the books to used to live in the same house as me and she doesn't even remember borrowing it!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) That would be frustrating. I, like Colleen, only lend books that I do not want back, except for my Mom and Sis, who treat books the same way I do and will give them back to me, eventually. But then, I don't always give theirs back as soon as I should, either.

Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments I am VERY weird about lending out books as well b/c I LOVE all of my babies (books) and I just want them to be in really good hands. I went on ETSY and bought some new book plates/labels and they are great! I guess it is just for piece of mind b/c I don't really loan out my books, but just in case at least I am ready!

Anyways, my recent purchases as of yesterday are Outlander, Moloka'i, Murder at St. Marks, Murder at Grammercy Park, The Traffickers, Medicus and one or two others that I can't remember right this minute. I plan on doing another book shopping trip today or over the weekend, but I still have books from my two April book shopping sprees and they are staring at me and waiting patiently, but if I buy many more books before reading those, there might be an uprising!

I brought a stamp for my books. I can easily make the labels myself but the stamp is just easier for me.

message 359: by Anna (new)

Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments I was going to buy a stamp, but the labels were TOO cool and I got 5 different ones, the designer is called Kumquat Designs and the designer is VERY easy to converse with and she will do whatever you need her to do. Just trying to push ETSY b/c I think it is such a GREAT website and this particular designer does great work.

Anna (stregamari) American Wife sounds like the story of Jackie O, without the whoring husband. Clockers looks very good also

I just got Still Alice from GR Swap!!!!

message 379: by Anna (new)

Anna (stregamari) I read the blurb and reviews, it sounds wonderful! I work with mostly the elderly, and my two patients right now are Alzheimers victims, it's a horrible disease.

message 380: by Stacy (new)

Stacy I found this book truly amazing. I loved the fact it was written from Alice's perspective, and as her memory changes so does her voice. It thought that was a brilliant way to show the disease process :)

Donna, you have been a book shopping fool lately! LOL

The ones I got were from B&N my hubby usually gets the rest for me! He works in the VIllage (NYC) so there are always tons of thrift stores there.

message 394: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Me too, I bought a book on speed reading in the hopes of learning to read faster so I can devour more books.

That's awesome Donna! The most my husband has done for me regarding my book obsession is buy and put together a new bookshelf, he did it as a surprise and I was so thrilled. He payed enough attention to my bookshelves to realize I was about to run out of room but now that I have all this empty space I need more books! LOL

message 395: by Donna, The Pusher (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 3119 comments Mod
Let me know if that "speed reading" thing works. I have been meaning to try it.

And my husband gets me my shelves too! I ran outta room before he even built it. I hav eno idea where those books were prior to the shelf!!??? There are so many!

I love thrift shopping, you never know what treasures you'll find. It would be great to go shopping in NYC, but only if I had a guide and guru. I get lost if I go up my own street too fast, I'd never make it out of the city!

message 397: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I love thrift shopping too, I always find the most unexpected things and occasionally a book or two that is good for swapping for one I really want.

I still have ones that are waiting to be read from my spring shopping sprees. Oh well, they will ALL get read eventually! I am excited about my choices though and the ones I have already read from the above list have been great, so hopefully they all will be!

Anna (stregamari) Wow Anna, those'll keep you busy! I've never seen Thunder on the Right by Mary Stewart before, let me know how you like it, and I'll try to find it. I like to try to read everything by an author, and though I'd read all of mary stewarts books
