Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments Well, I only splurge every other month and these were two pretty big sprees and yes, it will keep me busy for a while, so hopefully I will make it to Sept. w/out going on another bender. I try to make myself read what I already have and then once I get down to maybe 3 or 4 books that I have not read, I will do a big spree. I am hooked on the Outlander series right now and I only have through book 4, so I have a sneaky feeling that I will be going back for 5, 6 and 7 before it is time for me to do another book buying spree, but oh well, reading is brain food...right? I treasure all of my books and they are something that I will always have and that will never go out of style, so I don't mind spending money on books.

I will totally let you know what I think about this book when I get to it. I have quite a list to work through, but this one came highly recommended from the woman at B/N, she told me to read all of Mary Stewart's stuff, so I will do that!

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I like that Anna, "reading is brain food" it does make a person smarter because I don't know any people that hate reading that I consider smart.

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I do the same thing to my husband Trish! He will read on occasion but is very picky about his books so I tease him about being illiterate! LOL

My husband doesn't read at all!!! He loves that I do but that is as close to as reading as he gets!

message 409: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments LOL!

Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments My husband does not read at all either and I cannot stop, so he is constantly picking on me! He will read on occassion, like a bio on a favorite comedian or something of that sort, but as for non fiction, nope he does not go there. It is bizarre, how we are so compatable, yet we are so different. Oh well, guess that is what makes the world go round and round.

He would much rather me spend money on books than on clothes and shoes, so I don't get in trouble for my book shopping sprees either, anyways, it is hard to sneak in bags full of books they tend to be a little bulky! Also, once I need another bookshelf and he has to help with it, he figures it out that I have been shopping yet again!

message 411: by Anna (new)

Anna (stregamari) I've been pushing some of my erotica and PNR on my husband, the results have been outstanding :) We got married because our books matched; we had all the sci-fi and fantasy "classics" as well as just about every Arthurian legend book printed. Now if we could just marry someone who would clean, it would be great!

message 412: by Donna, The Pusher (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 3119 comments Mod
When you find one that cleans see if he has a brother!!!! ;-)

Sarah (sarah23l) Your hubby sounds wonderful Donna! I got mad at mine for giving me flowers AGAIN last Mother's Day, and when I told him it was a cop-out gift he said that he didn't know what else to get me. I said, how about a giftcard to the bookstore (duh)? He wasn't even aware that they sold gift cards. Clueless!!

message 424: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) I just ordered Linger, and preordered Mockingjay and Diary of a Wimpy Kid 5 (for my son) from Borders. Can't wait to read Mockingjay!

I have been looking for this book forever but I could never remember the name but thanks to Wikipedia I think I found it>

So I just ordered The Making of a Surgeon by William A. Nolen.

I remember reading this when I was younger. My Dad gave me it to read and I did the mistake and let my cousin borrow it and I never saw it again. I would really love my original copy back!!!

message 432: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments I went to reorganizing my library and found three doubles, dang it!

I know this isn't the right place to go for this but my addiction just reached new heights. I joined audible.com and they are having this $5.95 book sale. It's so easy to point and click, now I know how Aly feels with her kindle! I also know no one here will tell me to calm down with the book buying! GR enables my book obsession! LOL

For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway (have it but would rather listen to it as it is a huge book)
The Shack by William P. Young
A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick
Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King (This will be my 1st SK book!)
The Pick-Up Artist: The New and Improved Art of Seduction by Erik von Markovik (I want to see what all the fuss is about with this guy)

I think I may go with the book I purposly went to B&N to buy: Deeply, Desperately (after Tha Zahir of course)
