I suppose it was pretty good for their budget, but I was proud and disappointed at the same time. I can't wait for Scorch Trials, (Even though I am not happy about the UNOFFICIAL announcement of Hailee Steinfeild playing Brenda) and I'm excited to see Thomas Brodie-Sangster go crazy in Death Cure.

About the movie. I liked it. I really liked it. As I've learned to do, I took off my book-glasses to watch it, and even though sometimes I found myself trying to guess the lines or what was going to happen next, it actually worked pretty well. I knew there were going to be a lot of changes from the book, it made sense, but I liked those changes. I think the movie works great independently of the books, and that's what a movie has to do (something in which, for example, Ender's Game fails horribly).
I like how they simplified it. No telepathy, no numeric code made with the maps of the maze, no invisible door in the cliff, no plain-grey-fake sky. But the story works perfectly without those things. The "heart of the griever" thing and how it worked as a guide and a key was clever, and Gally's rebellion was really entertaining too.
But the best of all was the MAZE. Beautifully designed, terrifying place, and... boy! Those grievers were incredible. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie.
I do think the ending explained a little bit too much, but I get it. It would be shitty for viewers who haven't read the books if they left them with all those question and almost no answers at all, like the book did at that point.
I also wonder what are they going to do without Gally, but I'm sure they'll manage when it comes to that.
PS: Chuuuuuck :( ... Though it wasn't too bad for me anyway, I was emotionally prepared for it.
PPS: (view spoiler)

Sean Bean? I don't see it but, I think he kinda looks like a teenage version of Martin Freeman. Teenage Bilbo.
