I liked reading it very much. The first half hasn't much in the way of stimulating plot, that is reserved for the later part. I enjoyed being a sort of first-hand viewer of older central African customs in the villages of the primary character Okonkwo. I thought his character was well-developed with background to his childhood. His pride, arrogance and prejudices were well portrayed. I enjoyed learning about the customs of the Nigerian villages of that time, it was actually quite anthropological. The effects of the coming of the British white men and their early introduction of Christianity to the native people was of great interest. The focus was very much on the male characters perhaps to the detriment of learning more of the lives of the women.
