The Shining 1980.The Shining 1997.Room 237

Kubrick's psychological horror The Shining (1980) is so beloved by many critics and moviegoers that some enthusiasts even made a documentary movie Room 237 (2012) that studies various interpretations of the movie.

However, Stephen King wasn't of the same opinion, so many years later, he himself created a TV series (1997) that was of course more faithful to the original story.

It's up to you to decide which version do you prefer. You may even like/dislike both of them, who knows? Spoiler-wise, you can freely share here your thoughts about the adaptations, just be more cautious regarding the book spoilers, if there might be some that aren't visible in the movies themselves. If you wish to talk about the book itself, please go to the other thread.

Currently reading the book, and I can see some things similar to the movie (domestic abuse for an example, I couldn't forgive the woman for not leaving that brute the first moment he was so violent toward them) but some differences too. I cannot recall ever seeing Danny in the movie as a sort of clairvoyant. What I do remember is that, according to the movie trivia, Danny from the movie, the actor, wasn't ever aware he was in a horror movie, so sheltered he was by Kubrick :)
