Surya | 2 comments Hi All,

My name is Surya. I am from India. I am nurturing reading as a habit. I have pursued Bachelor's degree in Computer Application. I work as a software programmer. But I am curious about History. History was my favorite subject during my school days.

Now I am interested to rekindle my love for reading history books.
I am happy to be part of this group as it has members from around the world.

Thank you all.
Surya

A warm welcome Surya, from all of us in the History Book Club from India. We are happy that you have joined us from India. Thank you for your nice introduction and sharing your interests in history. Please feel free to join in the many discussions.

There are many folders where you can discuss topics that may interest you as well so please feel free to explore our many diverse threads. Here is a list of focus areas:

History Book Club's Focus Areas

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is an example of how the books you mention should look:

The British Are Coming The War for America, Lexington to Princeton, 1775-1777 (The Revolution Trilogy, 1) by Rick Atkinson by Rick Atkinson Rick Atkinson

Elyse Capelli | 1 comments Hi! I'm Elyse (: I received my B.A. in History and now attend law school in Sacramento, California. I am deeply interested in the
threads of the human experience. History reveals these threads.

I enjoy 1960s U.S. history (I wrote my senior thesis on a subtopic of this era), early history (ancient Islamic history, early civilizations, etc..), religious history (as an atheist I am fascinated by the concepts of religion and its impact on humanity), and philosophy (natural philosophy, etc..). My love for the law finds itself within each of these topics. Microhistories are my first love (especially the unheard stories of women).

In my free time not spent reading, I enjoy baking, hanging out with my friends and family, being around my cat in general, playing on my rec volleyball team, and running.

I am always looking for likeminded people to connect with. Forming relationships through our interests is so important. Let's be friends!

Socraticgadfly Just joined. Within history, my main areas of interest are:
1. World War 1 — with the insistence that Woodrow Wilson was a "fake neutral" long before US entry into the war, as William Jennings Bryan knew in 1915;
2. U.S. Civil War
3. Pre-history in the sense of no writing, so archaeology and related, but the Ancestral Puebloan world.

Philosophy, politics/public policy and related, and critical religious studies also major areas of interest.

This is an example of how books you mention should look:

Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow by Ron Chernow Ron Chernow

Angkhan | 1 comments Hello All,
I'm from Thailand. My grandfather was British. My parents are both Thai. I'm in the UK just now studying history at university. My passion is to travel, but at present I'm basically penniless and for now will read my way around the world.

Mitch I'm harboured up in the Welsh Valleys. I work outdoors, mostly on farms, walling, fencing, and general repair work. I was a focused on my rugby, but a knee injury has put me on the sidelines for good. In the off-seasons, when finance allowed, I took to the mountains: mostly Asia and the Himalayas. I took to reading whilst recovering from my surgery. It's becoming a big thing. As one door closes, another door opens.
