This is a reminder to all members that the History Book Club does not allow any self-promotion or advertising regarding any books, manuscripts, publications, podcasts, or blogs. Essentially, there is to be no personal marketing whatsoever. And thre is to be no mention of your authorship. Posts that are in violation of that rule will be deleted. Please refer to our bylaws should you have any questions. This is a thread for introductions to tell us about yourself and to share your interests in history. It is not to be used as a forum about your authorship.

Thank you,

Welcome to the History Book Club, Desiree. We are happy that you have joined us from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Thank you for your introduction and sharing your reading interests.

There are many folders where you can discuss topics that may interest you as well so please feel free to explore our many diverse threads. Here is a list of focus areas:

History Book Club's Focus Areas

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.

When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

This is an example of how the books you mention should look:

Kristen Brennan Hello all! My name is Kristen and I'm from Amityville, NY (yes, that> Amityville). I've always been interested in history and have made it a point to read a few nonfiction books every year. However, this year I really wanted to finally get more in-depth on the historical topics which interest me most. For 2025 I want to learn more about World War II. I feel like, for all that I think I know, there is so much which I was never taught in school (basically the whole Pacific theater and African campaigns), and so much forgotten history for such a major event in our not-to-distant past.

Hoping to get some good book recommendations, make some new book friends, and learn something new!

Elmira Hello everyone, I'm Elmira. I studied law and am now majoring in international relations. Currently, I'm working on my thesis, which includes sections on the history of ancient economics, so I’d be happy to get some help finding the right books—and to make new friends as well!
