One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest discussion

Our AP Psych class watched the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest last year during our discussion of psychological disorders. The story of McMurphy and Chief and the inmates was used to discuss schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, phobias, etc. We studied the symptoms of these disorders, the diagnosis and the effectiveness of the treatments used in the past, such as group therapy, shock therapy and lobotomies. Fortunately, lobotomies are no longer performed on patients to cure psychological disorders.
