Margery Blue | 10 comments I would love to read A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES soon, as I already have a copy and I just cant wait to start it! it will be a lot better reading it with a group, than by myself.. Also how about the WINNER'S TRILOGY? I hear its very good, and 2 books are already out.

Hmm I wonder why they haven't posted an "untitled" book for a second. I'll leave it in the Stand Alone's for now, but if anyone hears about a second one coming out let us know and we can make it a series read!

message 103: by Erika (new)

Erika | 23 comments Not a suggestion but just a random mention, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is actually the 2nd book in the Narnia series. :)

What is the first book? Goodreads lists this one as book 1.

Erika | 23 comments The Magician's Nephew is actually the first one.

Hmm. Goodreads has it listed as #6.. Why is that?

Not a clue, according to the actual listing of CS Lewis' work, Magician's Nephew is one, followed by The Lion, The With, and The wardrobe. The copy of The Magician's Nephew I have has the little 1 on the spine.

message 108: by Brandy (new)

Brandy | 2535 comments is it maybe a prequel? So maybe the order is different?

message 109: by Erika (new)

Erika | 23 comments Yup! The Magician's Nephew sets up Narnia so though it was published later it's suggested to be read first. That's why my little single bound book (like the ones my library has) has a 1 on The Magician's Nephew

message 110: by Sara, The Meme Mod! (new)

Sara | 3903 comments Mod
Well what do you guys think? Would you guys like to change our order to read the Magician's Nephew first?

message 111: by Brandy (new)

Brandy | 2535 comments I am good either way

message 112: by Brie (new)

Brie | 569 comments Same here, just so long as we're all doing the same thing.

message 113: by Sara, The Meme Mod! (new)

Sara | 3903 comments Mod
Well since we're all prepared to read the LW&W first, let's just do it in the order that GR says.

message 114: by Brandy (new)

Brandy | 2535 comments good thing we have a decisive leader.

message 115: by Brie (new)

Ah so looking further into this -

The Chronicles of Narnia (Publication Order) #1
The Chronicles of Narnia (Chronological Order) #2

Looks like we're taking the publication order route.

It's that time again! Time to start thinking about July!

So far we have 1 series read: Prince Caspian, the second book in publication order of the CoN.

We will need one other series and two stand alones.

message 119: by Brandy (new)

Brandy | 2535 comments Am I the only one reading the Charley Davidson Series First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones by Darynda Jones or Dark Elements White Hot Kiss (The Dark Elements, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout by Jennifer Armentrout? Both awesome series that I think some of you will enjoy.
As for stand alone....I'm just along for the ride and happy to read anything

I dunno if you guys have heard - they're making the Newt Scamander books into movies (Eddie Redmayne will be playing Newt). So if you haven't read those book, those could be a GBR as well.

I agree with Brandy and Lucy! I have the Unwind dystology on my to read shelf and would be into another Gillian Flynn.

I definitely agree to another Gillian Flynn book!

Also, what about the Never Never (Never Never, #1) by Colleen Hoover series? It looks like the 3rd is rumored to come out this summer.

Also I went through some new releases this year:
In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black Wild From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed

If we want to go for a fun series, I hear these are good:
What Looks Like Crazy (Crazy, #1) by Charlotte Hughes The Spellman Files (The Spellmans, #1) by Lisa Lutz

I also like the idea of a book that's turning/already turned into a movie like Lucy mentioned.

message 125: by Brandy (new)

Brandy | 2535 comments how about we make it a good variety this month. Maybe a suspense (Gillian Flynn) and then something lighthearted or just fun. It is summer time and we need something not so serious.

message 126: by Brie (new)

Brie | 569 comments I really liked reading NPH's book, maybe we could throw in another book like that?

Maybe:
Our Bodies, Our Shelves A Collection Of Library Humor by Roz Warren
Or:
As You Wish Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes

message 127: by Erika (new)

Erika | 23 comments I still havent read the little Hogwarts library and a darker read sounds fun to me

message 128: by Nicola (new)

Nicola I'm up for all of these suggestions!

How about The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins as a standalone too. It's another thriller like Gone Girl and is getting a lot of attention.

Would you guys all want to start that next month? Our winner for the series reads [so far] looks like the Harry Potter side trilogy. Those are very small books & the Chronicles of Narnia books are also really small. If we make those 1-weekers, then we can start reading the Darkest Minds in July as well.

message 138: by Brandy (new)

I've decided not to do a poll for August. I think we're all trying to catch up on books so I thought we could use a break.
We have three books currently lined up for August..
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Chronicles of Narnia, #3) by C.S. Lewis The Martian by Andy Weir Never Fade (The Darkest Minds, #2) by Alexandra Bracken

If you guys are ready and want to throw in another stand alone, Brie suggested Luckiest Girl Alive

Let me know your thoughts!

Thank you Sara! I definitely have some catching up to do, and if there are others like me we can push off Luckiest Girl Alive to maybe September. It just looks like our kind of read :)

message 146: by Brandy (new)

Brandy | 2535 comments I think September. Seems like most of us our a little behind and could use the time to play catch up.

message 147: by Sara, The Meme Mod! (new)

And September it is!
